Firmware Mpman MP-CS157

Question

I have an mpman CS-157FM that simply won't turn on, no matter what we do.
I contact the supplier's website, www.mpmaneurope.com and I can see the photo of my device listed but there are no drivers available, no firmware, no user manual, nothing for this device is available.
However, on the CD provided with the device, there is a manual, a driver, a video converter, but no firmware.
So if I need to reinstall the firmware, HOW DO I DO IT?

This behavior is so frustrating, one feels incapable of reaching the manufacturers. Spending money to treat oneself and then feeling cheated... PLEASE HELP ME!!!

I just bought the same MP3 player, and I indeed have the same problem. It charges indefinitely and works properly when connected to the PC with the USB cord, but when I try to turn it on without being connected, it tells me that the battery is low.
Have you found a solution or should I return it??

I have the same problem... Apparently, not being able to use it except when connected to a PC after 3 weeks of use is part of the little surprise specifications of the model... Except that this makes for an expensive low-end USB drive!

I don't think the firmware is to blame but rather the battery!

Anyway, I'm quite frustrated too... Has anyone managed to contact MpMan?

actually, while charging the battery fills up but the screen is full of ZZ and it doesn't work
I asked the question on the MP MAN site if I have news I will let you know but I think it's a scam or the lithium batteries are 50 years old!!!

It charges through the PC's USB port. It works via the external power adapter, but sometimes the player stays on and gets stuck permanently; it may be due to the type of adapter I bought in Brazil.
I have another problem not mentioned here: the mp3s are in a queue, making it impossible to recognize the folders. And the playlists don't seem to work.

Pour le rechargement, c'est normal, ça m'est arrivé car le MP3, une fois déchargé complètement, il faut qu'il passe en rodage pour le rechargement. Ceci dit, vous devriez le laisser au moins une journée en charge avec le bouton off ou on, cela n'a pas d'importance. Par contre, moi, j'ai un problème, c'est pour les vidéos, je n'arrive pas trop à faire fonctionner le convertisseur. Si quelqu'un peut me répondre rapidement, ce serait sympa.

For my part, this is the 2nd mp-cs-157 I have. The 1st one worked well for a month, then nothing.
The dealer gave me a standard exchange and the 2nd one doesn't charge and doesn't turn on at all.
This thing is really crap (it's expensive crap though!)

Well, I found a thing to charge my mp-man
well I don't know if everything is useful but it charges....
so I plug in the ZZZZzz
then I turn on the little hourglass and ZZZZzz
then I press M (the black button in the center) and enter the menu
I go into the music like I'm going to listen to music (the charging bar moves)
and I leave it like that
once it didn't work so I tried again and in the end it always works

Hello, I also bought an MPman MP-CS 157 1GB and while pressing some buttons I encountered a big problem: after a few minutes of prolonged listening, an animated screensaver (a kind of beach) appears. Hello world, well, I don't have any battery problem with this nice device. It's full, 10G used and I don't have a single mp3 or amr!! No battery issues, I can walk around with it, but that's about it.  Maybe together we'll manage to make one that works.  If anyone has a tip for my full disk, I'm interested.  See you later, guys :)

For the screensaver, go to system, lcd set, choose black and set it to 15 seconds for example. The screen will turn off after 15 seconds.  When the MP3 shows that it is full (1GB used) but there are no files in it, you need to format it using the small utility provided (MP3 player disk tool).  See you later.    Éric

Note that for power supply, it works with USB 2.0; with USB 1.0, it is impossible to power the device...

So I can't take it anymore, at first I couldn't charge this MP3 and now that I know how to charge it when I turn it on I see the screen from when I was listening to music but without music and to turn it off I have to do it in error mode or else it won't turn off... -_- help me PLEASE!!!! Hello,  I just received it. It looks great. However, none of my PCs can detect it. "Unknown USB port." As mentioned earlier, there’s nothing on the CD. Thinking it might be a personal error, I followed the steps in the "control panel" to install the drivers for the faulty ports. Unfortunately, I see from reading you that I'm not alone.  So if anyone has the drivers or firmware, I would appreciate it.  I almost forgot: The first time I plugged in the drive, I actually saw it appear in My Computer. I opened the drive and found some files that I don’t know what they are. (Me and computers, it’s a one and a half). I thought it didn't look good next to the music files (the two excerpts delivered with the drive), so I deleted them. In fact, since that moment, my PC no longer recognizes the drive. So if anyone simply has those "original files," I would appreciate it.  Thank you.

I have recently joined the forum and I'm in the same situation as most of you.
I had this famous MP3 player, the MP Man CS-157, and it was working fine; sometimes I couldn't turn it off, but I would just wait for the battery to drain and that was that.
Then one day I decided to update the firmware of my player with the one provided on my CD, and to my astonishment, I realized that my player wouldn't turn on anymore. After checking your forum, I read that the firmware on the CD was not the right one, oh no!!!!
Now I have a storage device but no longer an MP3 player!
I would like to know if it is possible to flash the firmware with an identical working MP Man.

I have had it for 3 weeks and it works very well. When you want to charge it, you need to turn it on. There is a paper with the MP3 that says "WARNING: Please turn on your player before starting to charge the battery." Next time you buy an MP3, read the papers inside it ;)

In case it helps, I also had loading issues until I realized that the drive was connected to a USB1 port. By plugging it into a USB2.0 port, everything seems to work... Was it really related to the type of USB or the power delivered (not all USB ports on a PC seem to be created equal in this regard...) ? Anyway, try the different USB ports on your PC to see if that solves your problem ;-)
