I missed updating my MP4 player, a Mpman MP-CS155 1 GB
Therefore I would like to find the firmware for this player.
If someone has it or knows where to download it, please let me know.

Hello, I also have a problem with this player because my computer doesn’t read mini-discs, so I convert my videos with another software and when I send the (transformed) file, I can’t find it in my MP3 player, however when I connect it to my computer I notice that the video file is indeed present, so what should I do? I just bought MP3s but the problem is that I can listen to music normally and everything, and after a while it freezes... then it's impossible to do anything except turn it off by pressing the fast-forward and rewind buttons at the same time, but after I turn it back on it freezes again... :s

Hello everyone, I also bought a 1GB mp4 player for Christmas, the MPMan CS 157 model, and I’m experiencing exactly the same problems as you: it worked for one day and now it crashes as soon as I try to play a song or a video. So it clearly comes from the firmware since I also have 2.611.005. I’ve sent two emails to MPMan support from their site, I suggest you do the same; maybe if everyone writes, they’ll do something... (one can always hope). There you go, I believe there’s nothing to do except wait for them to move to create a new firmware.

Honestly, I had too many problems with that MPMan. Now I’ve returned it to the store where I bought it; they said there were lots of returns… so it’s poor quality! So I returned it, they refunded me, and I bought another MP3 but not from the MPMan brand ;)

Les titres des chansons dans la liste bougent tellement lentement qu’il faut au moins 20 secondes pour voir la première lettre du titre de la chanson. (Artiste - Nom de la chanson < - bouge de gauche à droite mais très lentement)  Ça ne peut pas être normal, quand j’ai 20 chansons du même artiste je dois attendre très longtemps pour chaque titre afin de savoir lequel c’est.  Et je ne peux pas obtenir la mise à jour du firmware car le programme dit que l’appareil n’est pas détecté.  Désolé pour l’anglais mais je ne parle même pas un seul mot de français.  please help me!!

Hello everyone!  I recently got a MP-CS155, I used it for the first time today, so I charged it for 4 hours as recommended before first use. Several hours later I unplugged it and it says "Charge Full!" on the screen, but it is impossible to turn the reader off, whether in ON or OFF mode, the screen doesn’t change. I connected it to my PC, but nothing, my PC doesn’t react, it doesn’t detect it, the only thing that changes is that the reader’s screen lights up a bit brighter, but nothing more. So I went to www.mpmaneurope.com and there I found it easy to simply download the updated music for this device, then after installation no more problems. I think your two problems must be related. Have you thought about installing the driver provided with it? Unless it’s the cable that’s misbehaving or simply the player. Otherwise, I was wondering if there wasn’t a shuffle mode by any chance on this player; I’ve looked everywhere and can’t find it. Hey I bought the MP-CS155. I see a lot of people don’t know how to put videos, well I do, so I’m going to explain it to you...
In fact everything is on the CD, I know, personally I didn’t understand anything but I dug around and found it. The installation steps:
- Put the CD provided with the MP-CS155 into your PC and go to My Computer and click on the "DRIVER" icon
- You’ll see 5 folders: "ACT TO WAVE CONVERTER", "AMV MOVIE CONVERTER", "DRIVER FOR WIN98 USERS", "MANUAL", "MPTOOLS". Click on "AMV MOVIE CONVERTER".
- Then there you see lots of folders. Click on the one called " MSIfr
Package Windows Installer "
- You will install the program that converts
- Then, if you haven’t changed the default install location, you need to go to My Computer > Local Disk (C) > Program Files > MP3 Player Utilities 3.67 ** this is the installed program **
- In " MP3 Player Utilities 3.67 " click on "AMVTOOLS" then click on the file called "amvtranform
looksingle Microsoft"
- After that the converter program launches. And in this window you will see a black square for the video.

Steps to convert:
- Click on the small folder next to "input file" and choose the video you want to convert
- Below, click on the small disk next to "outfile" and choose the location where you want to save the converted video. Personally I chose directly on the MP-CS155
- If you want you can watch your video by doing what I wrote above and then press "play"
- Just below, right above "transcoding progress" there is a white frame with all the video information. Click it once and then go up to "output info" and click on the icon with a blue thing inside and you’ll see a "Property setting" window appear
- You’ll see 96X64, put "128X96" and click OK at the bottom. and you return to the other window.
- ** I know I’m going to repeat a sentence, read it anyway, the ending isn’t the same **
Below, just above "transcoding progress" there is a white frame with all the video information. Click it once and then go up to the orange and green rectangle with play, stop, pause, the progress bar,... to the left of play/pause/stop you can see 2 slanted arrows that point in different directions and next to it a square with another smaller black square inside.
Click the arrows and you will see the % increase at the bottom
- Then when it’s finished you’ll see a message appear but it’s not a big deal, click OK.
- If you didn’t place the converted video directly, your MP-CS155 will go get it at the place you saved it and plug in your MP-CS155 and load it onto it.

Nice Tim for your tutorial... but my problem isn’t the ...  When I convert the videos .avi to .amv as requested, the image undergoes a strong central symmetry effect!  (But what is central symmetry ???) --> well, it’s the fact that the video image, converted to amv, ends up completely upside down: top to bottom and left to right .... really annoying for reading texts and watching the films properly!  So if someone could explain how to do to have an image that’s in the right orientation as we like ... thanks

bashus, I think I can answer your question. I had the same problem and it has nothing to do with the DRIVER. In fact, if you’ve ever had an mp3 before (with a non-internal USB cable), you must use your old cable because your PC recognized that one first. Or use a USB cable from another device. Weird, XP normally recognizes the drive without any problem as a removable disk (like a USB key).

Personally, I didn’t install the software that’s on the provided disk because Windows XP doesn’t need any special drivers. I let Windows search and install the drive automatically. My drive is recognized under the name “SGTL MSCN (I:)” and drag-and-drop works correctly (I use Windows to copy-paste-delete).

Note: the provided disk contains drivers for Windows 98. So if you installed that driver you’ll need to uninstall it.

Have you performed Windows XP updates? If not, you should do them. Have you installed Service Pack 2? Important for peripheral recognition.

Before continuing, clean the system registry (CCleaner is free and effective).

Once everything is checked, you can try reconnecting the drive again, but in another USB port, and let Windows handle it.

Hello, often black dots on screens are dead pixels. If that's the case, your reader has been damaged by heavy pressure on the glass or it has deteriorated on its own (defect). If that's not the case, and the defect comes from the software (firmware), you can try replacing it with an update. Personally I have version 2620.1. You’ll find the new version on the manufacturer's site (also check the first messages, they talk about it). Robby

No matter the color. If it’s a screen defect, the affected pixels can stay frozen at the last color remembered (memory effect) and no longer change... Try a full reset (press both scrolling buttons > at the same time for 5 seconds). If that’s not enough, update the firmware; if even after that the screen stays bad, then I think it’s damaged. Bye

hi,  to convert the videos, normally on your mini CD provided there is a small software in the folder "cenvert" well something like that, after that I also have the problem of the end-of-track block, it always freezes and only on the same songs (Nirvana -_-', I tried everything, deleted, re transferred...) I also have a small problem with the converter, it tells me that I’m missing some "codecs" but I don’t know what they are, and if we can download them.  and also, I just went to the site mpmaneurop and downloaded the converter or another thing, but in any case my antivirus alerted seriously^^

Hi Jeremy, you ask for help but look 2 pages ahead and read my tutorial, it explains everything in detail. I’m STILL REPEATING IT !!!   I KNOW IT’S LONG BUT IF YOU WANT TO PUT VIDEOS ON THIS FP** MP4, "LISTEN" TO ME !!!!!!  ** oh right, some videos cannot be converted by the program ( which is on the CD provided with the mp4 ) **  In fact everything is on the CD, I know, personally I didn’t understand much but I searched and found it. The installation steps: - Put the CD provided with the MP-CS155 into your PC and go to My Computer and click on the "DRIVER" icon - You’ll see 5 folders: "ACT TO WAVE CONVERTER", "AMV MOVIE CONVERTER", "DRIVER FOR WIN98 USERS", "MANUAL", "MPTOOLS". Click on "AMV MOVIE CONVERTER". - Then there you see lots of folders. Click on the one called " MSIfr Package Windows Installer " - You will install the program that converts - Then, if you haven’t changed the location where the program was supposed to be installed, you need to go to My Computer > Local Disk (C) > Program Files > MP3 Player Utilities 3.67 ** this is the installed program ** - In " MP3 Player Utilities 3.67 " click on "AMVTOOLS" then click on the file called "amvtranform looksingle Microsoft" - After that the conversion program launches. And on this window you will see a black square for the video.  Steps to convert: - Click on the small folder next to "input file" and choose the video you want to convert - Below, click on the small disk next to "outfile" and choose where you want to place the converted video. Personally I chose directly on the MP-CS155 - If you want you can preview your video by doing what I wrote above and then press "play" - Below, just above "transcoding progress" there is a white frame with all the video info. Click it ONCE and then go above to "output info" and click on the icon with a blue thing inside and you’ll see a "Property setting" window appear - You will see 96X64, set " 128X96" ( for a larger image on your mp4 ) and click OK at the bottom. and you return to the other window. - ** I know I’ll repeat a sentence but read it anyway, the end isn’t the same ** In the same area, just above "transcoding progress" there is a white frame with all the video info. Click it once and then go above to the orange and green rectangle with play, stop, pause, the progress bar,... to the left of play/pause/stop you can see 2 tilted arrows that go in different directions and next to it, a square with another smaller black square inside. Click the arrows and you will see that the % will increase at the bottom - Then when it’s finished you will see a message appear, but it doesn’t matter, click OK. - If you didn’t place the converted video directly your MP-CS155 go fetch it where you placed it and plug in your MP-CS155 and put it on it.  There you go hope it was clear enough and see you later !!  Tim  And please before saying "how do we put videos on the mp4?" Read the tutorials of others!!!!!!!!

When I connect it with the original USB cable, it only charges and I can't add music or anything else because in My Computer there's simply no drive listed, even though it is there (I get a repeated message: "insert a disk into the reader"). Even changing USB ports gives the same result. It was working not even a week ago. Please help me.
