HDMI resolution issue

Hello everyone,

My PS3 worked fine for years over HDMI, at 720p or 1080p resolution, I’m not sure which one.

By accident, I unplugged the HDMI cable while the console was on. I then had a black screen, even with AV, and even after changing the cable and TV. By the way, my TV and my original cable still work well in HD with my box.

I reorganized the data in the console’s safe mode, since then it works again but only at 576p (image cropped on the edges).

Could someone please provide a solution to help me get back to my previous resolution of 720p or 1080p?

Holding down the power button for 5 seconds brings me back to the unfortunate 576p.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi, in the video settings, by selecting HDMI (if I remember correctly) and going to the right, you have a menu where you can choose the resolution. If it’s not there, I’m 100% sure I’ve already seen this option somewhere in the video settings.
Unfortunately, since I no longer have the PS3, I can’t guide you, but I’m sure that by looking carefully in these settings you’ll find a way to change the resolution.
Let me know if you found it or not.

Hi,

Thank you for your reply!

Unfortunately, trying to manually change the resolution in the display settings doesn't allow me to access the resolution I had before (1080p).

In fact, when I select the HDMI channel on my TV, no matter which device is connected, my TV shows the resolution being displayed as well as the data frequency (50Hz).

Yet, after an hour last night in front of the console trying to solve the problem, in vain, I noticed that when I try to switch to 1080p manually, and I select the HDMI channel through my TV, you can clearly see that the console is attempting to set itself to 1080p because the resolution shown by my TV is 1920x1080p, but I have 0Hz (compared to 50Hz with my poor 576p resolution).

If this information can help pinpoint the source of the problem...

Thanks!
