AMD processor overheating Solved

Question

Hello everyone, I'm turning to you as a last resort.

Here is my problem:

My PC goes into "safety" mode after a few minutes of gaming.
I checked the processor temperature using a program (I can't remember the name) and it reaches 90° to 100°.

My configuration:

Motherboard: Asus M2N61-LA (Nyssa)
Processor: AMD Athlon 64x2 5200+ 2.7GHz
2GB of DDR2 RAM
Geforce 9500 GT with passive cooling
480W power supply
And a new "cooling fan" Glacialtech model Igloo 7312 Silent

I specify that the case of my tower is open and everything is clean and dust-free, and an internal fan was directed at my tower.

If anyone can help me find a solution because I'm stuck.

several solutions: - poor mounting of the heatsink (it happens) - too much thermal paste - not enough thermal paste - very poor quality thermal paste - overclocked processor

Hello Haekos,

My CPU cooler is new; I left the original thermal pad on the cooler and removed the leftover paste from the processor.

I will check for the mounting.

My processor is not overclocked, and it only heats up during gaming before going into safety mode; during "normal" use, it is around 50°.

What’s surprising is that my PC has had this configuration for a few years (since 2008), and it has only been doing this for a few months; I changed my power supply and cooler, but nothing has worked.

What surprises me is that it worked without issues for 4 years.  Could the motherboard battery also be a factor?

I checked and my heatsink block is properly installed.
