Hello,
Your tip seems very useful but I want to reset my iPhone 3GS without iTunes because I've downloaded iTunes multiple times but there’s always a bug and it says "unable to reach the file, please try again." I do it, I try again but it's always the same thing (and it takes almost an hour and a half to download). I’m a bit fed up. But the worst part is that my computer no longer recognizes my iPhone, so please help me.
See you soon, I’m waiting for your response. Thank you
Configuration: Windows 7 / Internet Explorer 10.0

Hello,
If you have access to the iPhone, iTunes is not necessary:
If you have locked your iPhone due to the passcode, you need to use the DFU recovery procedure (iTunes is necessary).
This procedure reinstalls the iPhone by erasing all data from the iPhone without being able to recover anything. Then the iPhone will restart as if it were brand new, set it up and if iTunes has a backup, it will offer to restore it.
If you have access to the iPhone, iTunes is not necessary:
- Go to Settings / General / Reset
- Choose "Erase All Content and Settings"
- Confirm by selecting "Erase" in the next menu
- The phone will restart and reset to "factory reset," as if it just came out of the box.
If you have locked your iPhone due to the passcode, you need to use the DFU recovery procedure (iTunes is necessary).
- Press both the Home and Power buttons simultaneously for 10 seconds,
- release the Power button and wait another 10 seconds,
- connect the cable to your computer with iTunes running and release the Home button.
- iTunes will detect your iPhone in recovery mode and offer to reinstall it.

Do you have another solution??
