Interface reseau eth0

voila j'utilise ubuntu sans interface graphic. j'ai bien configurer mon interfaces reseau eth0 dans le fichier /etc/network/interfaces. le systeme reconait bien ma carte reseau, j'arrive a pinger un autre ordinateur.
mais si je veut pinguer ma propre interface c'est a dire ma carte reseau, rien ne se passe , et pourtant j'arrive a piguer d'autre adresse, alors pourkoi je n'arrive pas a pinguer ma propre interfaces?
