It could be your antivirus, Antivir is good at generating this type of issue by locking the NTUser.dat file
Malwarebytes also causes these problems on Windows 10 (it will be fixed in the next version https://forum.malekal.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=57343 version > 3.0.6).

Check if the problem occurs or not in safe mode.
If it works in safe mode, it's a program causing the issue like your antivirus, uninstall it.

I have the same problem, but when looking in the registry, I can't find any session with .bak

If I try to create a new profile, that one goes through without a problem, but when opening the session (and creating it, since it's the first opening), it gets stuck displaying the same error message "cannot open..."

Since the session has never opened, it doesn't get created in the Windows registry, making it impossible to modify the file.

Any hints???
