Hello,

I got a new PC for Christmas, a Toshiba with Windows 8. And when I open my computer, it turns on automatically; is this a setting or a problem?

I had the same problem with a Toshiba Satellite laptop.
You need to go to Toshiba System Settings (gear icon)/ startup and scroll down to the bottom of the page to disable the automatic screen turn-on at startup.

I read all the comments and I'm interested in the automatic start system that I unfortunately lost due to a manipulation. It was really convenient that it started automatically, and to turn it off, I follow the normal procedure; I don't put it in sleep mode, I completely shut down the system
but I've searched everywhere and I haven't seen where you explained it. I see the mechanical wheel, but I don’t see where the activation and deactivation of the automatic start function is
