Hello,
I downloaded Money 2005 and when I click on it, I see it open and close immediately. I've tried a lot of things that don't work. I can no longer use it and open my saved Money files.
Thank you if someone has a solution. I have already consulted many forums on the subject without results.
Configuration: iPad / Safari 7534.48.3

Hello,
All these manipulations are completely unnecessary.
Here is THE SOLUTION to all your problems.
Microsoft released an update for Money 2005 on its website in 2012 which has the following advantages:
- It’s an update made by MICROSOFT
- This software is free
- It does not require a password or serial number
- It is compatible with all 32-bit and 64-bit Windows
- It works perfectly (especially on W7 64bits), stock value updates are done automatically.
The name of this marvel:
"Money2005-FR-QFE3.exe.exe" (yes, two ".exe")
Unfortunately, this file is no longer available on Microsoft’s site, but it can still be found with Google on the Web.

Hello;
You write that you downloaded Money 2005 with Windows 7?
1-From which link did you download this software?
2-Do you own the installation CD of MsMoney purchased from Microsoft?
3-Since when have you been using this software?

Thank you for kindly returning to the Forum to let us know if the problem is resolved or not.
Best regards. -
I have been using Money since at least 1998 and I bought Money 2002 then 2004, which worked very well under XP. I have the 2004 license, but after several moves, I can't find the CDs.
I downloaded 2005 from a free download site (which one, I can't remember as I've browsed so many pages...)
Thank you for your response jmarion3 -
Hello;
If MsMoney is installed on the machine currently, try installing this MsMoney update patch
By following this link and follow the instructions >> But not at all certain that it will work with the version of Money you downloaded as the patch is valid for an official version of MsMoney (which no longer exists currently >> The solution >> Find the installation CD)
to recover your last backup if it was properly saved (preferably on a removable media)
See here for info
If problems >> Return to the Forum
If OK after installation of the pack >> Mark the topic as resolved
Thank you for kindly returning to the Forum to let us know if the problem is resolved or not
Best regards-

Hello;
As explained above, this patch is used to update MsMoney version 14.0.80.2005 to 14.0.80.2107 installed from the CD acquired from Microsoft, which has been discontinued for quite some time.
I think (and I'm almost certain) that the version you downloaded is not compatible at all with the installation of the update patch that allows you to recover a backup in case of a change of operating system.
If you followed the instructions provided in the link mentioned above and it still doesn't work, it means that the backup is no longer compatible with the version you installed, and in that case, you must absolutely find the MsMoney CD and reinstall in Windows XP compatibility mode + apply the patch on top, and if your backup was done correctly, there shouldn't be any issues (This patch has recovered over 2000 MsMoney backups)
See this screenshot extracted from the MsMoney tutorial.
On what medium did you make your backup? (USB key - CD/RW - External HDD?)
See you later.
Regards.

I backed up on an external drive and USB stick and copied it to my computer.
No chance of recovering the CD.
So I fear it’s all over?
Best regards and thank you if there are any other solutions.-
Hello;
Sorry but I have no other solutions than those mentioned above or trying to find a holder of the Microsoft CD (hard..hard)
If you still think about replacing this software with something similar but not compatible >> See MS Bank Accounts >> Quite nice (Around 30 Euros max) The full trial version can be used for 30 days and if not purchased >> Everything is lost!! So be very careful

Hello,
Just a small correction regarding my previous message.
The Microsoft software "Money-FR-QFE3.exe.exe" is not an update to be installed on an existing version of Money 2005, but a COMPLETE VERSION (standalone) that can be installed on a computer whether or not it has an older version. -

Hello,
I summarize below what I wrote in my previous messages:
Here is THE SOLUTION to all your problems.
Microsoft released a 2005 Money update for free on its site in 2012, which has the following advantages:
- It is an update made by MICROSOFT
- This software is free
- It is in French
- It does not require a password or serial number
- It is compatible with all Windows 32 and 64 bits
- This software is not an update to be installed on an existing version of Money 2005 but a COMPLETE VERSION (stand alone)
- It works perfectly (on W7 64 bits in particular), stock updates are done automatically.
The name of this wonder:
"Money2005-FR-QFE3.exe.exe" (yes, two times ".exe")
Here is the link to DOWNLOAD this software from the Microsoft site:
http://download.microsoft.com/download/B/3/1/B31D6140-59FE-4D17-AF82-A2E77D0FCFFF/Money2005-FR-QFE3.exe.exe
Contrary to what I said earlier, this link is still valid (for now)
So get typing!-

I haven't tested this version of Money on Windows 8 (which I do not wish to install for the moment) but I don't think it will be an issue because Windows 8 is supposed, according to Microsoft, to be compatible with all applications designed for Windows 7.
It doesn’t cost anything to try. Please share your experience on this forum.
The compatibility tester from W7 to W8 (a small utility to download from the Microsoft website), run on my computer, indicates that an update for Money is available. In fact, this is not the case. The link leads to the download of a new version of Money, called Money Money Plus Sunset, which is supposed to replace all other versions of Money.
However, it is clearly stated that this new application, which does not exist in French, only applies to the American market. Money files created on "regional" versions (i.e. other than USA) are not recognized. Furthermore, this application does not allow downloads of prices and bank transactions. -
I used Money 2003 on XP. I was able to freely download Money 2005 from the Microsoft website with the link below and install it without issue on Windows 8 64 bits. My money.mny file was converted without difficulty.

Hello, I couldn't transfer my Money accounting to my wife's laptop which has Windows 7 while I am still on X. The problem was that if I switched to 7, I thought I would lose it. Thanks to you, I downloaded the link and everything works wonderfully.
What a great gift for 2015. Thank you all and Happy New Year.

I also use Windows 7 and I have no intention of installing Windows 8. If I have to change, I would lean towards an iMac.
Thank you and best regards. -

It seems that Microsoft has stopped the stock quote update service.
Are you noticing this at your end?
If so, it's very dishonest of Microsoft because there is no serious alternative to Money, and Microsoft did everything in the 90s to sink the competing software Quicken from Intuit, notably by giving away Money with PCs equipped with Windows.
Quicken is an excellent American management software, much more efficient than Money, which I have used for years but is unfortunately no longer available in Europe.
For your information, before developing Money, Microsoft had tried unsuccessfully to buy the Quicken software.
Why bother developing software when you can buy your competitor?
Microsoft is known for this. Everyone knows that Bill Gates contented himself with buying MS-DOS from a small company to resell it at a high price to IBM with the help of his mother who worked there.-

I am not making this up, it is written in the Hardware Canard PC review No. 16 (April-May 2013) page 88.
Following the failure of negotiations between IBM and Digital Research regarding the operating system for the future IBM-PC, Bill Gates hastily purchased an existing OS, QDOS (Quick and Dirty Operating System) for the modest sum of $75,000. After some adaptations, he sold it to IBM, and Microsoft was propelled to the forefront.
Bill Gates was born into the upper middle class of Seattle. His mother, Mary Maxwell Gates, was a teacher and chairwoman of the board of several businesses and banks of the United Way of America, a network of charitable organizations.
One day, Mary Gates (Bill's mother) and a senior IBM executive were chatting together (they were both involved in the United Way), and she learned that IBM was looking to enter the microcomputer market. In fact, she did not work at IBM. Through a series of events, Bill received a visit from IBM thanks to his mother. Here is another secret to success -- being born into the right family and having the right contacts. This is simply found on Wikipedia.
All of this takes us away from Money. I discover that on the portfolio page, there are errors in the additions of some columns. This has already been mentioned on the web. Fortunately, the grand totals seem correct.
Ultimately, Bill might have been better off buying Quicken!
