Hello,
I have an iMac OS X version 10.6.8 that crashes randomly. When I'm on the internet, for example, in the middle of everything, I get the following message: "Restart the computer. Press and hold the power button until it turns off, then press it again."
Upon restarting, I get another message: "You turned off your computer because of a problem. Click Report for more details."

Furthermore, at night I sometimes leave the computer on all night. And there, almost every time, the computer has crashed during the night, it seems to have gone to sleep, and I have to force shutdown to restart it.
Could someone please tell me what the problem might be?
Thank you in advance.

Hello,

Your Mac is likely suffering from file corruption. This is called a kernel Panic.

A repair is necessary. It's easy. Follow this information:
https://www.commentcamarche.net/faq/15279-entretenir-et-reparer-mac-os-x-10-6-et-versions-anterieures

If the problem persists after these operations, you should check if any third-party devices are connected; they may be faulty or incompatible. Sometimes, a defective memory stick can also be the cause. But most often, it's a simple software repair that needs to be done.

Take care.
