How to connect a DVD player to an amplifier

Hello,

I recently acquired a Pioneer VSX-D510 5.1 amplifier to set up a home theater. Thinking that I couldn't produce 5.1 sound from my laptop, I bought an LG BD550 DVD player. My 5 speakers are connected to the amplifier, as is my projector. But I can't manage to get all 5 speakers working at the same time, let alone the 5.1.
In the DVD player manual, it states to connect the player to the amplifier via the coaxial OUT of the player to the coaxial IN of the amplifier... That doesn't work.
In the amplifier manual, it is advised to connect each component in analog RCA (the 5 speakers + the subwoofer) to the amplifier from the analog 5.1 outputs of the DVD player. However, the DVD player only has the two standard audio outputs, the video, the 3 YUV outputs, and the coaxial.

Here I am at a dead end, I really don't know how to proceed. It's all the more frustrating since I've just purchased all this equipment.

I've searched several forums, including this one, for a similar case. But to no avail. I'm starting to feel a bit desperate.

If a kind soul would be so kind as to suggest a solution, I would be greatly appreciative...

I have photos of the interfaces for anyone interested ;)

Thank you for your help.

Configuration: Windows 7 / Safari 537.1

Do you use the HDMI from the LG BD550 Blu-ray player to the television and the coaxial cable from the "COAXIAL" output of the LG BD550 Blu-ray player to the "COAX (DVD)" input of the Pioneer VSX-D510 amplifier?

Try connecting the coaxial cable from the "COAXIAL" output of the LG BD550 Blu-ray player to the "COAX (DVD)" input of the Pioneer VSX-D510 amplifier for sound; for video, connect the yellow RCA cable from the "VIDEO OUT" output of the LG BD550 Blu-ray player to the yellow RCA input of the television.

Play a disc to test the sound, first turn on the television and the LG BD550 Blu-ray player, turn on the Pioneer VSX-D510 amplifier by pressing the "RECEIVER" button, and increase the volume by pressing the "MASTER VOLUME" button.

I don't use HDMI. Neither my amp nor my projector has that type of port.

My setup is just as you said: a coaxial cable (does a standard RCA cable like the yellow one for video work?) between the player and the amp for sound. Then a yellow RCA cable between the player and the projector for video, which works fine.

I don't have the remote for the Pioneer amp and I can't find a "receiver" button on its interface. Is that why I'm not getting sound on my amp?

I tried all the audio configurations on the DVD player (PCM, DTS Re-encoder, or Primary Pass-Thru for all types of decoders). My amp encodes in DTS, but it doesn't do anything, no matter the audio configuration of the player.

Put my mind at ease and tell me you see a flaw in this ;)

Thank you.

Yes, the yellow RCA cable is suitable for video.
If you don't have the remote control, it will be difficult to change modes.

Without the remote, I don't see anything else to do, try contacting Pioneer:
