Hello,

I have a fairly recent LG TV and I would like to connect a hi-fi system to get sound from the speakers.

On my hi-fi system, I only have an "AUX IN" output, and on my TV, I have the red and white output (below it, it says "COMPONENT IN"). I plugged in the cord and nothing happens.

I thought it was because there were 2 "IN" ports, but I'm not convinced. Would I need an adapter? A SCART?

Thank you very much in advance.

Hello,

Indeed, since Aux In is an input and Component In is also an input (designed to output the sound from a VCR or DVD player to the television's speakers), it will not work, and there is no adapter available.

There needs to be an Aux Out or Line Out on the TV. You can also use the headphone output with a 3.5 mm stereo minijack to RCA/Phono (the red and white connectors).

Otherwise, if both the TV and the amplifier are equipped with digital audio outputs (Digital Audio or another name), you can connect them for the best possible audio quality.
If only the TV has one, there are adapters available to convert digital audio output to RCA/Phono.

Best regards

Thank you,

I have 2 questions following this response:

I would therefore need to use the TV's headphone output, but where should I plug it in? To the Aux in on the hi-fi system? (I only have an Aux in, no red and white connectors on the hi-fi system)

I think my TV is equipped with a digital audio output since it is recent, but not my hi-fi system (see parentheses in the previous sentence). Could I have a link to find out which adapter to use?

Thank you very much.
