Hello everyone,

I'm reaching out to you today because I'm facing a problem that's driving me crazy, and I don't know what to do after spending the morning trying to fix it by surfing the web and looking for solutions on my laptop.

The problem is as follows:

My desktop computer won't last more than 30 seconds without displaying the following message: "Windows has encountered a critical error and will restart in one minute."

I'm currently using Windows 7, and I believe this is due to the action of a virus rather than a hardware malfunction. I'm not sure about the info, but here's what happened:
- I noticed that my Windows Security Essentials is showing a red icon, so I clicked on it to see what it indicates.
- I attempted to run a scan of my computer using Security Essentials, which informed me that it is not functioning and that I need to uninstall and re-download it from the Microsoft website.
- I uninstalled and reinstalled Windows Security Essentials.
- Problems began and the message appeared. Upon reboot, I can only stay on the desktop for 30 seconds before the message pops up again and restarts.
- I am no longer able to uninstall Security Essentials, which shows me an error when, by miracle, the computer allows me time to access the control panel to attempt an uninstallation.
- The message also appears in safe mode.

I don't know what to do anymore...

Does anyone have any ideas on how to resolve this very annoying issue?

When you see this error message, can you
start > type cmd in the search field.
on the icon that appears in the start menu, right-click, run as administrator

in the black window, type
shutdown -a

Does this block the reboot?

Yes, I have time to do it, but unfortunately it doesn't work. The reboot is still active. I also tried changing the date on my clock as some people had advised, but still no success.

I don't think I'll be able to succeed in doing this because I'll never have the time to burn a CD with my PC, which reboots every 2 minutes. The only other option I have available is my MacBook Pro, which doesn't read .exe files, as you must know.

▶ Above all, when saving, change the name of Combofix to "whateveryouwant" before it is saved on your hard drive

right click on this link: Combofix =>save target as....=> on your desktop => with the name you want

Before using ComboFix:

If you are using AVG, YOU MUST UNINSTALL IT BEFORE using Combofix as it can cause damage when interacting with the tool, potentially leading to a complete system reinstall.
Simply disabling the resident is not enough.
Download the AVG uninstaller from this link: https://www.avg.com/fr-fr/avg-remover
Choose the appropriate version (32 or 64 bits)/!\

CD emulation software like Daemon Tools can interfere with disinfection tools. Use Defogger to temporarily disable them:

▶ Download Defogger (by jpshortstuff) to your Desktop

▶ Run it

A window appears: click "Disable"

▶ Restart the computer if the tool asks you to

Note: When we finish disinfection, you can reactivate these programs by relaunching Defogger and clicking "Re-enable"

▶ do not forget to reactivate the protection of your Antivirus and Antispywares before reconnecting to the internet.

▶▶ Go back to the forum, and copy and paste all the content of C:\Combofix.txt into your next message.

▶▶▶ If, after the restart of your PC by combofix, you have errors "Key marked for deletion" or internet connection issues, restart your computer again

I think it comes from a firewall conflict but I'm not sure (I personally had the same problem)
What you do is, when it starts, go to Control Panel and uninstall all your firewalls! Do it in several times if you don't have time! And don't start by disabling the one from Windows if it's active.

I have no active firewall. And when I go to the Windows firewall, I don't have an enable or disable button like usual, but I only have a button that says: use default settings and when I click on it, it tells me it's impossible to use the default settings.

I have a damn virus and I can't get rid of this crap grrrr.

But I think the issue has to do with Microsoft Windows Security Essentials.... As I mentioned in my first post, the problems appeared after its reinstallation. And every time my PC restarts, I see it starting to perform scans (it seems to me) and suddenly it says the scans are complete and I need to restart my PC to finalize....

However, even if I "kill" the Security Essentials process, my PC will still reboot...

Any solution?
