Sony Bravia image but no sound via HDMI

Hello,

we just gifted our parents a new Sony Bravia, it works well except for the HDMI ports. When we connect an HDMI DVD player, we get the picture but no sound; this player works via HDMI on other TVs. Do you have any idea what to do?

    Look in the audio settings of the TV, check if it's in PCM stereo or in Dolby mode, etc.... Please specify the model of this TV.

      Hello, also check in the DVD settings menu if the audio setting is on PCM... as indicated by Stewartia.

      the sound setting is set to audio PCM, I can't give you the exact reference for this TV right now, it's at my parents' place.

      Have you tried using another HDMI cable and on another HDMI input of the TV? Note that recent TVs offer independent settings for each input; you may have one setting for the DVB tuner, another for HDMI 1, another for HDMI 2, etc. Also, check the sound level of the TV connected to the DVD player, or if the TV is not set to "audio out" system.
      If necessary, before contacting customer service, reset the TV.

      I've already tried with a second HDMI cable and on all 4 HDMI ports of the TV but with no result, and the DVD works fine on another TV
      I think there's more likely an issue with the TV itself, so returning it to Auchan's customer service is necessary
