Hello,
I have a Sony Bravia TV that won't turn on.
Description of the issue:
When I start the TV, the green light turns on and after a few seconds the red light blinks 4 times every 2 or 3 seconds (the screen remains black).
I wanted to know if anyone can help me troubleshoot my TV.

My Bravia stays black and after a few seconds a red LED blinks (5 times repeatedly). It's 4 years old and I'm low on funds. If anyone has an idea about the malfunction, it would be appreciated.
Hello, same problem as you, the repairer's response was to replace the screen with an estimate of about €600!!!
I took back my Sony kld32S5600 TV and made the following modification:
On the power board, I bridged the fuse "f101" with a 2A fuse wire. Since then, everything works normally!!!
For your information, the specifications of the fuse f101 are "T5AH AC250V".

Hello,
I'm sorry, I don't have an answer. But we also have the same problem with our Sony Bravia TV. And we would like to have a solution.
It happened after we had an electricity problem. There was lightning that struck near our house and the TV broke down along with another device. We would like to know if it's possible to repair it and how. It's very important.
Thank you in advance for giving us a response if there is one.

+1 for anonymous and thank you!
Indeed, there is a fuse at the bottom right of the left board! I just removed it, gave it a quick clean with a cotton swab (just for good measure ...) and put it back! And BINGO the TV came back on ;)

Hello everyone,
I resolved this problem at home on my SONY BRAVIA KDL55HX820:
the same problem was noticed where the TV turns on and then after 5 seconds it turns off and the red LED blinks 4 times repeatedly.
Given the price of the TV, it's worth looking around online...
1: I found a table that defines the meaning of the signals emitted by the red LED depending on its number of blinks
2: Thanks to this table, I identified the issue: 4 blinks = Backlight problem.
Indeed, after several attempts to turn on the TV, a spot in the lower right corner was darker than the others. For the test, I connected my laptop with a VGA connection and opened the Paint application in full screen to get maximum white across the TV; we turned it on and then off after 4 seconds (before it automatically shut down), which left a few seconds to see if there was a defective area.
3: Disassembly of the TV to find the references of the board that manages the backlight in my case SSL4055_2E4A
4: Finding a seller—24€ with shipping from a Chinese vendor... price in France around 120€ but not in stock
5: Reassembly of the board
6: The first attempt failed, so I tried a second time with the MUTE+SOURCE button combination after turning it on. This combination may allow a reset of errors during its startup cycle.
7: Victory!! While my repair quote was 1450€
Out of curiosity, I looked closely at this famous board; I noticed it's very small but visible on one of the 6 main chips there's one that has a charred spot.
There you go, if this can help someone, I don’t have more information to provide. Good luck!

Hello,
I have the same issue with my Sony KDL46HX720 (red light blinking 4 times intermittently...)
Where did you find the table of correspondence for the light signals and the faults? I looked but couldn't find it!
From which dealer did you find the inverter board? I seem to have the same reference as yours (SSL4055_2E4A REV:1.0 10.08.24)
I'm not familiar with the connections on the small ribbons; how do you detach them?
Thank you for your help.

Hello,
I have exactly the same issue. I turn on my Sony Bravia from 2006 and it turns off after three or four seconds, the green LED lights up and the red one blinks four times with two or three seconds in between.
Personally, I've done the steps you mentioned and it still doesn't work. Should I throw it away?! Because this is really starting to annoy me!!! :-D
THANK YOU IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR HELP.

Don't throw it away, give it to me!
Being serious, I fixed mine by re-soldering the fuse on the inverter board.

My Bravia flashed red 8 times in a row without turning on (even trying the famous Mute button)
I changed the socket it was plugged into and everything works perfectly now.

I have exactly the same problem!
It has been recurring for several months, usually I unplug the TV for a few minutes and then everything restarts normally.
But this time, no way!

I contacted Sony and received the following response:
"Only an examination of your KDL-32L4000 by a specialized technician will allow for an accurate determination of the cause of the symptom you described. Therefore, I encourage you to entrust your device to the After-Sales Service of your distributor. They will be the only ones capable of applying the warranty you have contracted with them.
It is also possible to drop off your KDL-32L4000 at the After-Sales Service of another retailer if they accept to take it on."
In other words, nothing, except for a specialized technician who, despite an error code, can’t provide any information; a distributor who will decide based on the warranty (more than 3 years, hello warranty) whether or not to accept the service.
SO BACK TO THE GARAGE AND PAY AGAIN.
THANK YOU, SONY.

For my part, it's about the mute button.
My TV was purchased in December 2011, I thought I would be safe with Sony but well...
Thanks for the fix.

Hello,
I have exactly the same problem. It goes into sleep mode right away and flashes 4 times....
I just spoke on the phone with an authorized service center who told me that the issue might be "the panel"....part still available but it costs 500 euros!!! excluding travel and labor....
However, there is a possibility to contact Sony to ask for "compensation" and they can contribute up to 50% towards the repair...
That said, the service center advises me to buy a new TV!!!
And it won't be a SONY.

Gaston,
My TV is working now.
Here's what I did.
Turn on your TV and press the mute button for at least 3 to 4 seconds.
Then press another button that is to the left at the top of your remote.
I'm not in my country at the moment.
Try that and let me know.
Thanks
Joel

Hello,
It might be a mishap by accident and the LED blinks 4 times. I had this issue and after reading the troubleshooting guide carefully, I had no more problems. I've had my Bravia for 3 years and I'm completely satisfied. Be sure to check the troubleshooting manual and you'll see it's indicated there.
Best regards,
Sam

Thanks to Joel because the Mute manipulation (held down until the image returns) + top left button (input selector on my remote) seems to work on my Bravia KDL-W5500...
I was getting 10 red LED blinks between each pause even after updating from 1.741EA to 1.750EA.
Good luck to those out of warranty, I always opt for the 5-year warranty extension, especially considering the price and size of the device if it needs to be taken back to the store ;)

Hello!
I have the same issue with my Bravia TV with a 107cm screen. At startup, the green LED lights up and immediately the standby light blinks every 4 seconds. It is only 3 years old, and this started happening when we switched to digital. I had to reconnect my TV to the antenna and reprogram the channels; everything worked fine, but the next day the standby light started blinking. The technician from Darty told me that the signal was too weak. I have a second, smaller set that I plugged in, and it works. I don't understand anymore?
