Hello,
I recently downloaded Illustrator CS4 and once I finish my creation, I have no problem saving it, but when I save it on the desktop, for example, it doesn’t appear there; I can only see it in Illustrator by going to File > Open.
The issue is that I want to send my creation in .ai format to someone, but I cannot find it. I tried going to Illustrator, selecting File Open, and then dragging the missing file to my desktop, but an error message appears: "Cannot move File: Cannot read from the file or floppy disk source"
I also tried doing the same thing, but instead of moving it to the desktop, I copied it. Once pasted on the desktop, a nearly identical message appeared: "Cannot copy File: Cannot read from the file or floppy disk source"
I also tried creating a folder and saving it inside, but I still have the same problem; the folder remains empty, and yet if I go to open the folder with Illustrator, I can find it inside...
-Sincerely
Configuration: Windows XP / Firefox 12.0

I have the impression that you have a mix of usage rights which explains why your file is not visible at certain times, and the error message about the locked file.
Try deleting the Illustrator preferences in the "Document and Settings" folder of the user (AIPrefs), and relaunch it as an administrator. Always log in with the same account that was used during the installation of the software.
