Hello,

I paid a graphic designer last January for the creation of images made in Illustrator. The problem is that when I open her files, Illustrator sends me an error message stating "Unable to find the linked file ..."

So, I then tried to open my file in an online reader and in PDF: the result, my Illustrator file displayed completely, without any issues and with the famous "missing" file. Then I attempted to open it on CC 2018 and CS 6 (originally created on the latter): the problem returns every time.

After that, I tried to solve my problem by searching around on the web, but I found nothing useful.

In short, if someone can help me and indicate the way to proceed, I would be very grateful :)

The solution is to ask the graphic designer who created the file to provide you with the linked file...

It seems to me that in Illustrator there are 3 ways to use a link: not to embed it, to link it, or to link and embed it... if the file is linked and embedded, the message is just informational.

Linking a file allows you to modify it externally from the software in which it is embedded... thus the modification will automatically take effect through the link.

If the link is also embedded, save your file from Illustrator under a different name, and you should no longer see the message when reopening this new file.
