incompatible cartridge issue C4480

Question

Hello,

I have an HP Photosmart C4480 printer. I changed the cartridges once and everything worked perfectly, and one morning when I tried to print, a message appeared saying "incompatible print cartridge."

Can someone help me????

Hello Stargate 43!!!  My printer is 3 years old and I just replaced the cartridges; everything worked fine for a month and then suddenly nothing.  Thank you for your help.

Yes, out of warranty, that's for sure, and the cartridges, yes, I bought them in a specialized store, but they worked properly for at least a month without any issues.

I don't think it's coming from the software or the driver, but indeed, why not try. So if I understand your answer correctly, Naye, the cartridges are not HP but generic. If that's the case, it's a risk, and the seller, whether specialized or not, is not going to tell you to only use original cartridges; he really doesn't care if your printer breaks down afterwards. He sold it, and the rest is not his problem.

Same problem on my side: impossible to print in B/W because the color cartridge is empty! On the phone, HP asked for €20 to help me. I told them I wouldn’t promote them.
I had 2 other problems previously: a new color cartridge that was expired and refused, I had to buy a new one, then a recent B/W cart suddenly became "incompatible".
I suppose this all comes from "planned obsolescence": once the warranty date of the cartridge is up, the software refuses its installation or says it’s incompatible. Hats off to HP! They've found a way to always make us buy more.
I no longer buy cartridges in advance, which is a disadvantage. To buy one, I go around the stores to find a box with the latest warranty date. Not very practical, but it somewhat circumvents the trap set by HP.
Does anyone know how to disable this software feature of planned obsolescence?
