Offline printer

So I might be a bit late, but... since I recently had the same issue, I had to look into it to find a solution. It’s actually very simple. When you ask your printer to print a wireless connection test page, you should have an IP address printed on it. Keep it handy. Go back to the printer properties (right-click on it) and then in the PORTS tab, you will see a list of ports. Do not configure the port that is already checked; otherwise, whether you're an administrator or not, you will get an error message. Instead, find the one that matches the IP address on the printout, check it, and configure it. Then you will see, you'll have trouble accessing SNMP Status, which you need to uncheck. Click OK, and the problem is solved... At least it works perfectly for me :)

I still have a problem because my printer goes offline at startup even though I have unchecked the SNMP box.

kk ..I have a problem with my HP D1663 printer operating on XP ... it always displays your printer is offline ..?? it's urgent HELP ME PLEASE !!!!!

Thank you Rocache for looking into my question, but the problem is that it automatically switches to offline mode every time I start it up, and I would like it to stay on "ready" all the time. Is there something I need to uncheck somewhere?
And just now, I printed a document and it switched back to "offline" mode. That's strange!

My problem is similar except that, out of 3 users using the same printer, only 1 sees it go into Offline mode.
The printer is connected to the general wiring of my company, so the distance is the same between the users and the printer. However, when one is "offline" (the only one it happens to, by the way), the others have no problem printing.
It's strange. If someone has a solution.

For the TCP/IP port setting, go to the printer properties, click on the "Ports" tab, then select the one used by the printer (it will be checked), and click on "Configure". There you have the option to uncheck the SNMP status.

I have the same kind of problem, without racism, the two causes are Vista and HP.

Aside from that and as a start to the answer, many people use the new HP multifunction printers with their Wifi functions to connect to a laptop, and generally an RJ 45 through a router to a desktop PC.

However, standard HP printers (like the 7200) only manage one connection, either RJ45 OR Wifi, not both (you generally end up with conflicts and unexpected disconnections).

In any case, it is clear that HP is unable to release a driver compatible with XP or Vista for all its printers, which is disappointing (not to mention the space and RAM these awful drivers take up).

All your solutions are interesting, but in my case (HP c7280), it doesn't work. After uninstalling and reinstalling, it still shows "offline" every 10 or 15 seconds.
It is a network printer and there are two computers running Windows XP; one works perfectly and the other frequently disconnects.
Note that the SNMP checkbox on the problematic computer is already unchecked by default...
The ping to the printer does not show any interruptions during the "offline" moments, and web access to the printer is always operational.
In the "Device Manager," the hardware activates and deactivates (small red cross on it) at the same rate as the "offline" messages.

Note => the printer appears in image devices.
Another note is that on the computer that works well, we have in "image devices" the USB ports (for USB sticks) of the printer, but not on the problematic computer... I don't know if this is significant...
If anyone has an idea, that would be really great!!!
