Repair a torn power cord

Hello/Good evening.

I use a Toshiba Satellite Pro laptop and the power cord recently tore.

It's the part that connects to the computer (not the one that plugs into the outlet and can be replaced for not very much...) I looked at the prices and it's still around €30, which is really a lot for me.

The cable tore near the connector that goes into the computer. It still works.
I wrapped it with tape as a precaution, but I would like to know if you have any tips/advice to give in this kind of situation for repairing it? (It really feels expensive for me to buy a new one...)

Thank you in advance and I wish you a good day/evening!

Configuration: Windows 7 / Firefox 7.0.1

    Hello...

Since it's working, the wire is not cut... I advise you to cut it cleanly, solder it, and put heat shrink tubing on it, plus a piece of tape on top, it will be safer....

    Regards,

PS: otherwise, if your tape is well applied and the wires are not likely to touch, you can continue like this....

      Hello,

You can use the self-vulcanizing tape instead of duct tape; you can find it directly at this link https://www.raccordement-electrique.fr/ruban-auto-amalgamant/
