Hello,
Since Tuesday, I'm having major issues with the charger for my Asus K53s laptop; it no longer recognizes the charger. When I plug it in, it shows "charging," but four seconds later, the battery logo appears as if it's not plugged in, and of course, the battery drains.
I’ve noticed that my fan is making some strange noises, like crackling, and the small light indicating the battery is red instead of green.
I tried charging it with another charger, and it’s the same.
Otherwise, if I press the end of the battery cable really hard, it charges.
What do you think could be causing this? I'm a bit worried, and I need my laptop during revision time T_T
Configuration: Windows 7 / Firefox 11.0

Hi,
If pressing on the cable makes contact, it means the problem comes from the jack plug (either on the charger side or on the PC side). Since you've tested a second charger, that rules one possibility out.
Therefore, the ideal solution would be to replace the jack plug on the PC and the internal power cord. It's not very complicated to change, but depending on the brands, it can be more or less accessible. Additionally, you need to find the part, which isn't easy either... But it's often just a simple loose connection (a broken solder joint or something like that).
First, try cleaning the contact thoroughly, and check that no dirt has gotten inside. A crumb of bread can cause chaos in the contact.
