Hello,
I was quietly typing dozens of pages of text on Wordpad, and when I got to the last line of my story... I couldn't finish because of a power cut...
It was a very important text and I would like to know if there is a way to recover it because obviously I didn't have time to save it...
Can't we do a "rollback" of a few hours or... well, I don't really know much about it but losing this document is very frustrating for me...
You would be incredibly generous if you could help me find this unfinished, unsaved document that is so important!!!
Thank you so much in advance!
Sincerely,

You need to go to Windows Explorer and modify the display option (include hidden files)
Search in the directory documents and settings/user/application data/microsoft/word or excel or other and open the file that corresponds in time and date of modification to the last ten good minutes of the work that was in progress (i.e.: the program automatically saves every 10 minutes, just before the famous shutdown) (in the worst case, open all the files in there) and open the file corresponding to that timeframe with excel or word or the application in question and you're good to go.
I had the same problem with a very important file, believe me it worked, I hope for you too
See you later (For others who don't have solutions on this forum, avoid being too sure of yourselves by saying that it can't be done, especially when the person asking is in distress) when we don’t know, we look for it!
PlimArsanc's note: If the solution proposed above does not work, you can try this software: https://www.commentcamarche.net/telecharger/utilitaires/8599-easy-office-recovery/

WOOOOOOAHH! Thank you very much! I also lost a job and it worked out :) I wasn't able to get it back completely but it's better than nothing.

Help, how to do under Vista, it’s so pre-chewed and pre-digested that I can’t get past user level. I already had to find the translation for document and settings which doesn’t exist under Vista…. I would really like to recover my work from the last two days!
