retrieve Outlook emails after PC change

Question

Hello, I have changed my PC and I would like to "retrieve" my old Outlook emails to "transfer" them to the new PC. I was and still am on XP. Is it possible to do a copy-paste or is there another method? Thank you for your help.

Yes, you can recover all your emails from your old PC to transfer them to your new one. Everything in your Outlook inbox is stored in a file called Outlook.pst (default file)  If you haven't created any other personal folders in your inbox (one for certain contacts, another for emails coming from forums...), you will only have one file to transfer to the hard drive of your new PC.  Here is the default path: C:\Documents and Settings\your username\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook\Outlook.pst  Then, you paste this folder in the same location on your new PC.  P.S.: sorry for the path in English, but I'm on an English XP.

Hello  You need to use the import/export functions of Outlook Express.  In the "File" menu, select "Export/Messages" on the old PC and "Import/Messages" on the new one.

Hello,  I tried this manipulation, but when I open Outlook it tells me "unable to open your default mail folders. The file c:/user....Outlook.pst is not a personal folders file." And so if I delete it, and restart Outlook, it looks for the Outlook.pst file. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Outlook but the original Outlook.pst file (1kb) no longer appears in this folder and I can't open Outlook. I attempted a scanpst but it tells me that it does not recognize the file format. What can I do? Thank you.

I don't use Outlook, but I did this a couple of years ago.  If I remember correctly, there is a user code in the path with many numbers and letters. On the new computer, this code is different. What I did was create an Outlook account on the new computer and transferred the outlook.pst from the old one to the new one using this new path. No guarantees, as I can't verify it and I don't have much memory of this work. What I remember is that I struggled to find it all on my own.
