[Excel] remove link Solved

I need help, I have an Excel file that has links to other files but when I open it, it doesn't say anything. When I go to the Edit menu Links, there is indeed one with 1 file. How do we delete it?

Good evening,

I have never found a way to remove the link to a source file in the "Edit" - "Links" dropdown menu. The help in EXCEL seems mute on the subject. It deals with modifications to the source file, but not (unless I'm mistaken) with the destruction of the link between the files.

I can suggest a workaround.

We create a file Z and, in X, we change the reference to the deleted file to the reference for file Z (edit link, change source, and choose file Z).

It's not ideal, but it should put an end to your troubles.

They don't mention it anywhere in the help,

my problem is that a file X contains links to a file that I deleted; this file X opens without considering the link, whereas file Y is linked to X and asks me for the file I've deleted every time I open it.

I don't understand anything anymore.

I managed to erase the link by modifying the source and putting in a file that is already in my list of links. (the duplicate gets erased)

But if I want to delete all the links, I'm still stuck.

At worst, you keep a single link on this empty file.  It's not neat, but it works.  If anyone knows the real solution, I'm all ears.  See you later.

I had the same problem regarding the removal of links.

After doing these manipulations, if there are still links remaining, I found one last solution: copy the content of the sheet into another sheet. Links that were not due to a formula, a name, or an object are not copied. Then you just have to delete the old sheet and your workbook will be free of all its links!

I'm also having issues with links, but I can't seem to remove them. Edit menu/search *[ I believed it would work when I implemented it, you can't imagine my disappointment when Excel told me it found nothing...

I found it, you just have to disable macros when opening the file, and then you can break the links.

I managed to remove the links from my workbook by doing this:

1- open the workbook
2- go to "Data"
3- Click on "Connections"

A window opens and presents the different links of your workbook, offering you the option to remove them.
