Hello,
Like many, I have a problem with a random white screen that appears on my PC. The screen turns completely white, sometimes on startup, sometimes afterward. It can last for 10 seconds to an hour.
I have read this thread, as well as others: http://www.commentcamarche.net/forum/affich-13793094-samsung-nc10-probleme-ecran-blanc-apparait
I know the trick that involves opening the netbook, cleaning, and reconnecting the video cable. I secure it with electrical tape (or something similar). The problem is that it works perfectly for about a month, or even less. Then, it starts again!
Is it necessary for me to replace the cable? I'm getting a bit tired of having to open my PC every month and I'm afraid of eventually damaging it. I can buy the cable online but is it easy to replace or should I call a pro? Unless I'm not using the right tape...
Thanks in advance for your help

Hello,
A video on this site shows how to disassemble the NC10 to access the panel as well as the screen cable:

Have a nice day, -
Thank you very much, Jann! This site is great.
The manipulation seems risky if you don't know much about it, but I'll give it a try. However, I won't force it; if necessary, I'll call a professional.
It's cool, on the blog they explain how to change the hard drive. Since my hard drive is dying, I was planning to replace it before dealing with the ribbon cable. There is a whole tutorial detailing the procedure with supporting photos.

Hello everyone,
I had the same issue. Apparently, it's not the ribbon cable, but rather a contact or grounding issue at the back of the panel.
This problem becomes less severe when I lower the brightness or when I press the back of the screen.
Does anyone have a solution? -
Temporarily you can lower the brightness and press the bottom of the screen, but be careful, after a certain time it breaks.

Hello, I have the same white screen issue at startup on my NC10.
As I saw here, I disassembled it (no longer under warranty), moved the wires, unplugged and replugged the ribbon cable, and reassembled it. The result was great, the screen no longer goes white at startup, I thought I was a good MacGyver lol
But gradually it comes back.
I have done the operation at least 5 times with the same results; it gets better for a while but then it comes back.
Is it complicated to change the ribbon cable myself??? I understand what it is, the black wire above the fan.
I would like to repair it because I just added a 2GB memory stick, I’m very happy with it and I want to upgrade to Windows 7
Thank you for your advice, have a nice day ;)
