CCleaner no longer cleans Google Chrome

Hello,

Since the update to version 3.03.1366 of CCleaner, I am experiencing the following issue on both of my PCs (Windows XP and Vista): CCleaner no longer cleans Google Chrome; everything is checked, but when I open it, it shows up in the results telling me to close it to clean, but once closed, it disappears and is therefore not cleaned!

Thank you for your future responses.

Configuration: Chrome 9.0 / CCleaner 3.03

Hello

If CCleaner used to delete but no longer does, there must be a reason, generally because deleting may not suit all users or for another reason, or the time taken to develop a solution to a problem revealed in use.

1st solution
In case of rebellion against this decision, you can still at your own risk use the version of your choice available on filehippo.com
https://filehippo.com/download_ccleaner/

2nd solution Does CCleaner still allow you to delete the folders/files you want?

In CCleaner options settings, there are settings for normal or secure deletion and the number of passes.

This concerns the files that will be deleted by CCleaner
- either because it recognizes them as Chrome files to be deleted
- or because you added them in options-include. (if the temp files are not deleted when Chrome closes or by CCleaner's normal cleaning)
I only don't know the exact name of these temp files to provide you.

This also concerns files that would have been deleted by Chrome upon closing (but not a secure deletion). Files that no longer exist in the CCleaner table cannot be deleted by their name. But CCleaner allows you to clean the free space on one or more drives and the free space of the MFT. (check boxes in options-settings). They will ultimately be properly deleted.

Ultimately, CCleaner allows you to delete these files. Even though I don't know Chrome and CCleaner's behavior on Chrome temp files, I believe I have provided you with adjustment elements to achieve this regardless of the situation.

Hello,

I don’t understand your sentence “ by telling myself that I have to close it to clean it, but once closed it doesn’t appear anymore and therefore isn’t cleaned!” It is normal to close Chrome or another browser so that it can be properly cleaned. Did I miss something there? ;-)

I have the same problem today..
CCleaner does not delete the history from Google Chrome despite the boxes being checked! After reading the information above and intervening in the CCleaner settings, nothing works..

I have Windows 7 and I have been using GChrome with Gmail for 6 months and I clear the history directly on GChrome.. too bad!

He is talking about CCleaner here, why divert from his original question?
As far as I know, Chrome does not allow securely deleting temporary files, that's a simple reason.

Good news: without doing anything, CCleaner is working again on my Windows Vista PC. I'll keep you posted if everything gets back to normal on my XP as well...

Hello, I'm having the same problem, I went into CCleaner, options, cookies, and in the cookies to keep, I selected everything and deleted it, since then everything has been working normally.
