Unable to start, repair 0xC000009C

Hello,

My laptop won't boot anymore (I'm using another one at the moment), the message UNMOUNTABLE BOOT VOLUME appears, with the following technical information:

STOP: 0x000000ED (0x812F1A68, 0xC000009C, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)

I checked the site and saw that it might be fixed by doing a manipulation from the XP installation CD... but I don't have one...

I also found a program called ParetoLogic PC Health Advisor online, which requires a scan and is supposed to fix the 0xC000009C issue. But I'm on another computer right now, and I don't know how to use this program on the other one since Windows won't start...

    I typed just chkdsk as a command and here is what shows up now: "the volume seems to be in good condition and has not been checked (use /p if you still want to check the volume)", and yet when I type "chkdsk/p" they keep telling me that the command is not recognized...

    There seems to be a problem; the check initiated by chkdsk /r, when it reaches 75%, drops back to 50%, then slowly climbs back to 75% only to drop again to 50% and so on...?

    Do you have any idea what this might mean?

    Good evening,

    I start the computer with the installation CD of XP in the drive ("start your PC with the XP install CD, wait for the XP installation welcome screen to appear and press 'R'") but the welcome screen does not appear, there is no change from before, meaning first a black screen that offers to start Windows normally, to choose safe mode, etc., then after a few seconds of attempting to start Windows, the blue screen unmountable_boot_volume...

    Is it me who is not using the installation CD properly?...

      have you modified the BIOS to boot from the CD, then saved with the F10 key

      have you properly burned the CD as an ISO image?

      Hello exla,

      After leaving the last message, I realized that I had not configured the BIOS, so I searched for an article online explaining how to do it and tried to follow the instructions, but I don’t know if I did it the right way because nothing changed...
      I pressed F1, then selected "startup", then "Boot", and I chose "CD ROM drive", I saved it with F10 but the blue screen still appears a few seconds later...

      Regarding your second question, I got a copy of the XP CD from a friend.

    what blue page?

    when you press F10 to save the bios modification, you need to tap the Y key like yes.

    if you have modified the bios and set the cd drive as first, you restart the pc with the windows cd in the drive, at startup it will prompt you to press a key, any key, to launch the cd

    In the recovery console, when I type "chkdsk/r", it responds "The command is not recognized"...

      It's because you're typing the Slash incorrectly.
      It should be written like this: chkdsk /r, so there needs to be a space between the k and the /.
