Hello,
I would like to repair the .dwg files from the AutoCAD software because when I open them, I receive a message stating that they are corrupted.

Rename. Replace .bak with .dwg.

    It's still not working because these are files that I was able to retrieve from the disk after formatting it. I therefore don't know if these files are irreparable and unrecoverable. Thank you.

  To answer your question, first you need to specify which version of AutoCAD you are using.
  
  If the message "incorrect file" appears, it means that it must be saved in a version of AutoCAD that is newer than yours.
  Files saved in AutoCAD 2000 are compatible with the following versions.
  
  To put it simply, you can open AutoCAD 2000 files with:
  - AutoCAD 2000;
  - AutoCAD 2002;
  - AutoCAD 2004;
  - AutoCAD 2005;
  - AutoCAD 2006;
  - AutoCAD 2007;
  - AutoCAD 2008;
  - AutoCAD 2009.
  
  Similarly, you can open AutoCAD 2004 files with:
  - AutoCAD 2004;
  - AutoCAD 2005;
  - AutoCAD 2006;
  - AutoCAD 2007;
  - AutoCAD 2008;
  - AutoCAD 2009.
  
  To put it simply, you can open AutoCAD 2007 files with:
  - AutoCAD 2007;
  - AutoCAD 2008;
  - AutoCAD 2009.
  
  Check which version of AutoCAD you are using and ask what version the person who sent you the plans is using.
  
  If they are using a newer version than yours, ask them to resend the plans in the format of your version.

    I have the latest version of AutoCAD, which is the 2008 version, so it's not the version that is causing the issue. Originally, the files I would like to recover come from a hard drive that was formatted, and I would like to repair them because when I try to open them, AutoCAD signals that they are corrupted.

il faut renommer les fichiers .BAK au format DWG après avoir désactivé les extensions cachées des dossiers.

  In fact, the problem is that the files were restored from a formatted hard drive and I think they have been damaged, which is why I have this issue. Unfortunately, I deleted those files because they were cluttering me, as I still couldn't find a solution. But I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your contribution.

Hello, I don't know if this is what you're looking for, but you might want to try this:
- If your file opens despite the warning, go to File/Drawing Utilities/Check.
- Otherwise, open AutoCAD only and then go to File/Drawing Utilities/Recover and look for your file. It will then "test" your file, verify it, and clean it up.

Open a new DWG file and insert your corrupted file as an Xref, purge and save everything, then delete your old file.

Hello everyone, here’s my problem: I’m importing a .dwg file into 3ds Max, and when I manipulate the scene, the object (the terrain traced using COVADIS) shakes and is very difficult to handle. A friend told me to simplify the .dwg file, but it’s still the same issue when I open it in 3ds Max. It’s a bit of an urgent project, please help. Thank you in advance.

You just have to open the .bak file with AutoCAD and save it later with the .dwg extension.

  Hello, I need help!! Because I also have a corrupt file that dates back to November 2007, and on my workstation (Autocad LT 2009) or at home (Autocad 2010) or even with AutoDWG DWG/DXF Converter, I can't open it; it always shows (corrupt drawing file), while in a simple thumbnail icon, I can see the different blocks and other objects contained in this Autocad file. It's really strange, in .bak nothing! And I can't convert it, thank you for your help!!

  Hello, Moukengue, I have the same problem as you. I formatted my machine without copying my AutoCAD 2009 files, and now that I've recovered them, I can't use them. It says "invalid drawing file," and when I try to recover the file, it says "unable to open recovery file." I see you mentioned it worked for you. Can you please tell me how you did it? Well, I still have the problem with a file I created in my own version of AutoCAD, so I shouldn't have any issues... but between the morning and the afternoon, the file no longer opens and trying to recover it doesn't work (renaming the bak file gives me an error message, the file could not be renamed due to an unexpected error)... If anyone can help me... Thank you!
