Hello everyone,
I'm reaching out once again for your help to solve my problem.
Here's the situation: when I want to shut down my computer, it starts turning off and takes 3-5 minutes to shut down completely. This is quite annoying given that it didn't used to do this, and it's frustrating to have to wait for my PC to turn off.
I've already consulted Google and ccm.net to find an answer, but to no avail. This has been happening for just over a week.

I want to emphasize that I close all my programs before shutting it down, so it's not due to my programs.

What should I do??

Configuration: Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bits
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo 2GHz
RAM: 3 GB
Graphics card: Nvidia 9600M GT
Internet Explorer 8 / Mozilla Firefox 3.0.4

Hi

Generally, you have a background task that is still running
or a virus?
Is a virus possible?

You can try this free software for a month/TuneUp Utilities
It optimizes the PC.

Try a system restore to a date before the problem.

Possibly before you run: msconfig
Then go to STARTUP
There, check if you have any programs to uncheck?
Personally, I only have this checked/http://www.cijoint.fr/cj201010/cijgb6Xyu9.jpg
Note/I am not on WiFi.

Hello

This is due to Windows analyzing all active services (DLL, VXD, OCX, etc.) at that precise moment before logging off. The default setting is 20 seconds before closing.

So know that it is possible to reduce this closing time...

Open Regedit and then [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control]

In the right window, look for the string value WaitToKillServiceTimeOut

If it does not exist, create it (use Notepad for this)

Click on this value and enter the desired value corresponding to the service closing time (from 1 to 20 = number of seconds).

Best regards

In fact, in a moment of despair, I installed TuneUp Utilities, fixed the problems it displayed and performed a registry scan/correction, and now my computer shuts down normally again. Finally!! It used to take me over 10 minutes to shut down, or it wouldn’t shut down at all, and now it works again.

So I want to say THANK YOU to all of you for helping me and following me with my problem.

Indeed, you don't have many things checked, I have quite a list but I've already disabled the unnecessary ones.

Background tasks? Maybe the antivirus (Kaspersky)??
Otherwise, I don't seem to have any viruses, I do frequent scans.

I took care of this program when I uninstalled it, but my computer still won't shut down, and when I perform the same action, the same program is listed even though I uninstalled it.

which program?

Uninstall it in safe mode with revo uninstaller?
Then clean the registry with ccleaner.
