Unable to install a printer

Hello,
I'm unable to install a printer on my laptop. The installation starts off fine but then the message appears "The printer driver was not installed. Unable to complete this operation (error 0x00000012)".
I get the same message if I download the driver - Can you help me, thank you.
I'm using Vista Home Premium Edition.

Do you set up your installation with the printer disconnected from the PC? And do you connect it when prompted?

I can't get to the step where I'm asked to connect it.

Hello everyone and best wishes for 2011.

I have the same problem on Vista Home Premium 32-bit with any printer, "the printer driver was not installed. Unable to complete this operation (error 0x00000012)

While searching on the Internet, I completely emptied the spooler and restarted it.
I tried the "Printer spooler fix" from Microsoft: in "light" version it works and in "full" version nothing at all... but in both cases no change....

I really don't want to reformat the PC..... Could someone please be kind enough to help me?

I uninstalled my antivirus - I installed the printer without any problem and I reinstalled the antivirus and everything is working.
