Hello,
All of a sudden, the opening of Word and Excel is very slow, 2 minutes to open a file.
What is causing this, what can I do to return to normal use??
Thank you in advance

Hello,
the problem may come from the unintentional or intentional addition of the PDF Architect add-in (or others).
Here’s how to resolve it on Windows for Office 2007 (do this for each program that is causing issues):
1/ Open the program as an administrator:
- In the "start menu," then "all programs," then "accessories," right-click on "command prompt" and select "run as administrator" (say "yes" to the security message)
In the command window, you should see:
C:\Windows\system32>
- Type: start winword.exe (to open Word)
or start excel.exe (for Excel)
or start powerpnt.exe (for PowerPoint)
The program will then open as admin. Be patient, it takes a bit longer...
2/ Remove the problematic add-in:
Click on the Windows icon of the program (top left) then on "Word options, or Excel, or PowerPoint."
In the left menu, click on "add-ins."
In the "manage" section, select "COM add-ins," then click on "go...".
Uncheck the add-ins that are causing issues (like PDF Architect) and confirm with "ok." Be patient, it takes a bit longer...
There you go, you can close the command prompt.
I hope this helps you (I apologize to the professionals for this very detailed description aimed also at novices in computing).

One question though: But what does PDF Architect do in Word Excel???
