Hello,
I took an Orange subscription online, I received my mobile, the problem is that they are asking me for a check, and I don’t have one. I also don’t have any friends/family to ask, and my bank won’t issue a bank check for a deposit.
I paid quite a lot for my mobile and I don’t want to send it back and wait a long time to get a refund.
What can I do? Moreover, if I don’t send the check and they cancel my subscription, will they also block my phone? Could I unlock it in that case?
This is really annoying, can you help me? A lot of people don’t have checkbooks but still have subscriptions; it’s really ridiculous, especially after 4 calls to customer service without any solutions...
Thank you in advance
Configuration: Windows Vista / Internet Explorer 7.0

No, I paid for the phone 249 euros by credit card.
The check they are asking for is a canceled check for 0 euros (crossed out)
I explained everything clearly in the topic. -
I don't have a checkbook, that's the problem.
I paid for the phone with my credit card and provided them with a bank account statement.
My question was, if someone has been in my case, how did they resolve this issue, and if not, since I paid for the phone, do I own it? I mean, if I can't return the contract, will they block it for me? (the phone, not the subscription) -
In general, operators and other large companies do not like checks due to processing costs and the possibility of non-payment. In short, paying by check is usually a hassle, and there is sometimes an additional fee to discourage this payment method (even if it is not really legal).
Anyway, all this to say that in my opinion, what they want is just an automatic debit authorization so they can quietly charge whatever they want. -
The canceled check is not mandatory; it can be replaced by a proof of residence according to a seller at Virgin Mobile.

The phone only belongs to you if you sign the contract and commit. By paying the price of the mobile, you have only paid for your mobile if you commit contractually. This is their way of reimbursing themselves for the advantageous offer on the phone.
Is this a request for a security deposit, article 4.2.8 of Orange's terms and conditions? Here is what is written:
4.2.8 Upon conclusion of the Contract, the Operator may request the Client to provide a security deposit under strict conditions specified in the specific Conditions of the chosen Service(s). If the requested deposit is not made by the date requested by the Operator, the Contract will terminate on that same date, without the Client being able to claim any compensation due to the termination of the Contract. The deposited amount bears no interest before the scheduled return date. The refund will be made by bank transfer or, if not possible, by cheque if the Operator does not have the Client's bank details, no later than ten (10) days at ...

Since you have a bank card, request a checkbook since you are entitled to it and you can apparently get one unless you are banned from banking. In that case, you only have the option of a mobile card.

I don't want a checkbook, I'm not going to order one just for that.
I looked into it and many people subscribe in-store without a check because the credit card acts as a guarantee.
I would have just liked to have the opinion of someone who has been in this situation. -
I am not in favor of using checks, I don't want them, whether financially or practically. I don’t think I should be forced to take one since there are other means of payment, and some Orange customers are not obliged to use them either.

Good evening
Generally, when people do not have a checkbook but still have a phone, they have it on a prepaid card.
For a subscription, you indeed need to provide a canceled check, a bank account statement, possibly a credit card, and a bill from EDF or rent. -
You don't want to or you can't, that's not the same.
-
Okay, you are free, it's true, but sometimes it is very useful. In principle, if you don't want to take a checkbook and you are free to do what you want, well in that case, I strongly recommend getting a prepaid mobile phone.

Hello, he is asking for a crossed check to know whether or not you are banned from banking! Because if you have a checkbook, it means you are not banned from banking, and in that case, you won't have trouble paying them ;)

J'ai un abonnement de tel, je n'ai pas besoin de chéquier.

They will block your subscription by putting you in the preventive file and make you pay for the phone at a high price; in my opinion, that's what's going to happen. They want to make sure it's not a stolen card for the credit card, among other things, because you can very well have a credit card and not a checkbook, and vice versa.
