Hello,
I have a small problem with Windows 7: The Weather and Calendar gadgets are not displaying correctly while the other gadgets are.

http://www.hostingpics.net/viewer.php?id=391347Sans_titre.jpg

As you can see, my clock is working, my counter is working but the calendar remains like this and the weather shows the little exclamation mark right below the calendar.
I tried a repair with Tune Up but it doesn't work.
Configuration: Windows 7 / Firefox 3.6

Thank you BISBIS3, it worked for me, thanks
If some people doubt this method, you can export the registry folder L before deleting it to restore it.
THANKS +1

I did the manipulation and it doesn't work.
Under zone, there are 0, 1, 2, etc., there are no L's or squares.
Stop saying nonsense and saying it works. It doesn't work...!!!

Hello,

I finally found the solution to a problem with Windows 7 gadgets.
It's not exactly the same as yours, but it might save you from a formatting or restoration.
At first, my symptoms were as follows: some gadgets were not displaying correctly (the clock showed a black square with only the red second hand frozen at the top, the performance meter showed 2 white rectangles with the values written inside instead of the 2 round meters, the weather wasn't working) and the ".gadget" files were no longer recognized by the system, making it impossible to install another one.
I searched for a while trying to fix it with tools like FixWin or Windows' gadget repair, but nothing worked.
So, last night, I tried uninstalling the gadget feature and reinstalling it, and it worked; I have all my gadgets back (including the Free remote...).
To do this, go to the program uninstall tool and click the link on the left: "Turn Windows features on or off." In the list, uncheck the "Windows Gadget Platform" line. Restart the computer. Do the reverse operation to reinstall the gadgets and restart again. Now, I have everything back, hoping this resolves your issue.

I did what you advised us, but it's still not working :s.
I think it's coming from the computer itself. I have a Samsung laptop.

I've tried everything that is mentioned in this topic and here https://www.malekal.com/hack-wordpress-trojan-win32-jorik-skor/

I'm sure it's because of a keylogger that all this is happening to me (plus I have ads opening in IE while Firefox is my default browser...).

Thank you anyway ._.

Well, since nothing was working, I did a little system restore (from 24 hours ago, before the bug started), and it worked =)

(j'ai windows 7) My computer does the same thing, it opens web pages in IE and my gadgets don't work anymore. So how do you restore the system and does it have any consequences for the computer? Please respond KING-SATAN.

Well, I had to reinstall the software I had installed that same day, but otherwise I didn't lose my files.
Sorry for the wait X.x

Hello,

I tried all the tricks given in the previous replies and nothing worked. Finally, I found the solution on an English forum. It worked for me!

Click on Start
In the "Search programs and files" box, type Regedit and press enter
Expand the HKEY_CURRENT_USER folder and then the following folders: Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\Zones\
Subfolders appear numbered. Before the subfolder 0, there should be a subfolder with a strange symbol. Delete this subfolder.
Restart the computer... the gadgets show up.

Well after X searches, I found this, it worked for me, I took it from some English people

%ProgramFiles%\Windows Sidebar\sidebar.exe /showGadgets

(copy and paste into the run shortcut, that's the Windows key + r)

thanks to our English friends!!

please spread the word

Under Windows 7, here's how I did it:
- Start menu then "Control Panel"
- "Programs" then "Uninstall a program"
- On the left side of the window, there is "Turn Windows features on or off"
- Then uncheck "Windows Gadget Platform" then "OK"
- Restart the PC as requested

=> Start over from the beginning but this time check "Windows Gadget Platform" then "OK"
- Restart the PC as requested
There you go, it's magic! Have a great day everyone.

You need to go through a disk check "file system/sectors".

I confirm that the legacy solution works only temporarily.

Hello,

On other forums, here's what I just found:

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/gadgets-have-been-discontinued-0ef81ec8-e3cd-41d9-d129-c74e91d91d0b

"Gadgets are no longer available.
Gadgets are no longer available on our website because the Windows Sidebar platform in Windows 7 and Windows Vista has serious vulnerabilities. Microsoft has removed the feature in new versions of Windows. Gadgets can be exploited to damage your computer, access your files, display objectionable content, or change behavior at any time. An attacker can even use a gadget to gain full control of your PC. If you have concerns about the security of the gadgets you have downloaded, get more information about gadgets and the actions to take to protect your PC."

I also had a display issue with the weather, so I uninstalled everything (right-click on the desktop > Gadgets > right-click on the icons > Uninstall)

Good evening,

I also have a problem with the gadgets in Windows 7.
When the computer starts, it happens that 2 times out of 3 the gadgets do not appear on the desktop and it is then impossible to access the Add gadgets menu or any other menu related to gadgets (no window opens).
Generally, a restart was enough to resolve the issue, but this time it has no effect. I thought about the PC Meter application that I uninstalled 6 months ago (because of the RAM it requires), but I hadn't had any problems until now.

I tested the method mentioned earlier by the solution, but nothing happens. I ran a scan with Malwarebytes on the disk partition containing the OS; I will share the report with you once the scan is finished.

What troubles me in this situation is that I can no longer know the temperature of the graphics card via GPU Meter because I use software that stresses it a lot to the point of making it reach nearly 65°C even though the computer is on a cooling pad).

If you are able to help me, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thank you in advance

Hello and thank you all.
I had the same type of problem, I tried uninstalling the gadget. Then I searched for the error in my registry and it wasn't there. I had to explore other avenues, and the one that allowed me to display at least the clock and the currency converter was the display manager, but only with very small icons on the desktop and tiny writing. Then I saw that there was another display manager, that of my graphics card "Catalyst". I changed my preferences and everything went back to normal; everything except for the converter because I don't have real-time data, only that from 16 days ago.
