Hello,
I just installed a IEEE1394A PCI firewire card with 3 external ports + 1 internal port.
I have installed the drivers.
I connected my Samsung VP-D361W camcorder, but it is not detected by the PC.
Is there a special button on the camcorder? I couldn't find one.
Why is it not detected by the PC?
All my firewire card drivers are OK.
My card appears correctly in my system devices.
What kind of capture and video editing software do I need?
I do not have a CD provided with the camcorder.
I am using Windows Seven Ultimate 32-bit.

I had the same problem with my Sony camcorder. After extensive research, the only way I was able to solve my issue was to buy an external video capture box. There you go. Good luck!
Hello
same problem, I added a FireWire PCI card to my new PC (Windows 7), but my camcorder is not recognized even though it was on my old PC (XP). I thought the PCI card was faulty, why not, so I bought a new card but it’s the same with the new one. The PC recognizes the IEEE 1394 port, the driver is up to date, but the camcorder is not recognized. I have installed several software programs but the response is the same: impossible to connect with my video equipment. I have looked through all the forums without finding any solutions. I know that new camcorders connect via USB, but would transferring via FireWire be incompatible with Windows 7???
thank you for your help.
Best regards
Joëlle

Hello,
same problem, drivers are fine, PCI IEEE 1394 card is recognized but the camcorder (year 2004) is not recognized by the PC (Win7). Is changing the version of Windows the only alternative??? Need help please!!!

Hello everyone
I feel like I have the same problem.
I have a system that can start either in XP or Seven on independent disks, and I also have a Firewire 1394 card that I use for video acquisition from my SONY camcorder.
Under XP, no issues. I do my acquisitions with Pinnacle Studio 14 and edit without any problems.
However, under Seven, I did notice right after installation that when I shut down the system, the fans keep running, which means the motherboard isn't really turned off. But I didn't insist on it. I use the switch at the back of the case.
And today, I booted into Seven and wanted to do a video acquisition like I do in XP. That's when I discovered that my Firewire card is not listed among my acquisition devices. There's not even a yellow question mark; there's nothing.
Here are the details of the card under XP:
Vendor: VIA Technologies Inc
Device: VT6306 VIA Fire II IEEE-1394 OHCI Link Layer Controller
Subsystem Vendor: VIA Technologies Inc
Subsystem Device: VT6306 VIA Fire II IEEE-1394 OHCI Link Layer Controller
Name: IEEE 1394 OHCI Compatible Host Controller
Command: I/O Access, Memory Access, BusMaster, MemWrite+Invalidate
Status: Has Capabilities List, Medium Timing
Self test: Self test not supported
Cache line size: 32 Bytes (8 DWords)
PCI Class: Serial
PCI Class Type: OHCI FireWire
Does anyone have any idea?
