Firewire to USB or Firewire to HDMI Adapter

Hello,

My question is simple: are there any USB (2 or 3) to FireWire (400 or 800) adapters, or HDMI to FireWire adapters?
Let me explain: I plan to buy a new laptop, and most of them no longer have a FireWire port. However, I absolutely need this connection to plug in sound cards.

Thank you for your responses.

USB 2 to Firewire 400 (1394): Yes ( http://cgi.ebay.fr/CONNECTEUR-USB-Firewire-Lot-6-Adaptateur-Cable-NEUVE-/230661893281?pt=FR_Câbles_adaptateurs_audio&hash=item35b4852ca1 )

HDMI to Firewire 400 (1394): No (Firewire is not a video signal)

!!! SCAM !!!

USB and FIREWIRE are 2 different transfer protocols! This means that information is not sent/received in the same way by your computer. Any direct connection will not work and could be dangerous for the electronics.

The best way to connect your firewire is to use an expresscard, which you can plug directly into your PC. If you don't have any ports to plug this card into, then use an expresscard to USB adapter http://www.i-tec-europe.eu/index.php?t=3&v=104
(=> USB 2.0 is easy to find but 3.0 not so much...)
