Hello hello.
So here it is, I have a series in original version and I'm looking to embed French subtitles that I already have on my computer thanks to a website.
I know how to add them to the video with VLC, but they only last during the playback of my video. However, I would like them to stay on it permanently and not just during playback on my computer.
Does anyone have a solution? ^^

Hello everyone
I would like to add my contribution to this topic hoping it can help a few people
I’m adding this response because it answers more precisely than the response from jassmine (whom I thank) to the question from kellocks which was how to add a permanent subtitle with VLC
To the question of how to add a subtitle permanently (which will load automatically) to a video with the VLC player:
1. have the video (example 'serieEp3.avi') and the previously downloaded subtitle (example serieS3E03.srt) in the same folder
2. rename your .srt file to the same name as the video file while keeping the .srt extension! so we have 'serieEp3.avi' and 'serieEp3.srt'
3. just double-click on the video and VLC will automatically launch the subtitle;
no need to repeat tedious manipulations like dragging the subtitle onto the video or loading the subtitle every time
There you go, and by the way, thanks to 'CommentCaMarche' :-)

Do this after renaming the .srt files (mentioned above)!
There you go!
How to share this subtitled video online
