Hello,
I want to change the ink cartridges of my EPSON Stylus SX205 printer. When I lift the lid, I can't access the cartridges to replace them (they don't move to the center as they should). Could someone please help me change these ink cartridges? Thanks.
Configuration: Windows Vista Safari 532.0

I know, but to replace the cartridges you need to access them, and they are parked behind a non-accessible and non-removable cover.
To access the cartridges in order to change them, you need to go through the EPSON STATUS MONITOR software, which will command the printhead to move to a central position so that you can access the cartridges and change them.

To make your charger accessible, you need to:

1/ have the printer turned on (green light on)
2/ have the green light blinking next to the color (which means you need to change an ink cartridge)

here's what you need to do next:

        1/ lift the scanner lid
2/ press and hold the stop button (red triangle, it's the 2nd one located just below the "On" button) for a few seconds

you will notice that the charger moves to the left and locks to the left of the accessible space

        don't panic, that's normal

You need to press the "stop" button a second time and this time the charger, as if by magic, positions itself exactly in the center of the access hatch..

        You change your cartridges
        You lower the scanner drawer
You press the "stop" button once more and you're done
and you thank me, good luck

Thank you! I did what you mentioned and I connected it to the PC, and it worked! Now it's your turn to do the same!

    Hello,

Changing the cartridges on an EPSON is done through the EPSON STATUS MONITOR control panel provided with the printer (or downloadable from the EPSON website).

It would be great if it were that simple.

We are indeed talking about replacing the cartridges. (Not to check the ink level). You need to open the cover and replace the old cartridges with new ones. (Not everything can be done through the software).

Except that to replace the cartridges, you need to be able to access them, and they are parked behind a non-accessible and non-removable cover.
To access the cartridges for replacement, you need to go through the STATUS MONITOR software, which will instruct the printer head to move to a central position in order to access the cartridges and change them.

I tried with the printer off/on... but no. In the manual, there's no mention of a control monitor, what is that?

Your printer, if you bought it new, comes with a CD that contains all the necessary software. You need to install these programs.
If you don't have them, you can find them on the EPSON website in the support/download section.
