GPS not detected by computer Solved

Question

Hello,
I connect my GPS with the correct cable and there is a symbol on the GPS screen indicating that I am properly connected to the PC

but it is not detected on the computer... nothing in 'My Computer'... no removable disk

so what do we do damn it!

no, no DVD, but it takes place on the website... but I can't do anything if the GPS is not detected by my computer

garmin nuvi 200 GPS and when I connected to the garmin site, a small plug-in installed, but there's no detection.

Good evening, change the USB port and connect your GPS while it's on; that's how I do it with my 250.  Maurice

Thank you, but I tested 3 USB ports and I plugged it in, turned it on and off... the same.

As they say, for every problem, there is a solution!

In order for your GPS to be recognized as a device (USB) by your computer and to be identified by its name, and possibly recognized with the mapping software (Mapsource), here is the procedure to follow.

<< for me >> (on Windows 7), go to the start menu, control panel, device manager; generally, the GPS is recognized (for a GPS like Dezl 760) as "mobile devices" and

it is usually located at the top of the device console.

Click on it, then right-click with the mouse, and select "update driver"; a window will appear

<< how do you want to search for the driver >>?

Click on: "browse my computer for driver software"

On the right side of the window, click on "browse"

The miscellaneous items page of Windows opens, go to the directory (C) then "Program Files (x86)"

In this folder, click on the "Garmin" folder, then click on the "USB_Drivers" folder

Go to the bottom of the main window and click (OK), while this window closes.

Then on the "update driver" page, click next and the installation process will

take place automatically and your GPS will finally be recognized under the name: Garmin.

This way, for example, when you execute the "start" menu and then "computer",

you will notice that the GPS interface has changed and is recognized by its own name.

My problem is as follows: my sister-in-law gave me a GARMIN nüvi 205 GPS configured in France. I formatted it to set it up in Algeria, but unfortunately, nothing has happened since; my GPS is no longer detectable by my computer, it turns on and off with the GARMIN logo, and that's it. It's all simple, but always use the USB cable provided with the GPS and not another one... that's how I solved the problem. I was using a longer one in my car, plugged into the car stereo, but it was undetectable on the PC, except for charging. After struggling for several days with different tutorials that never solved the problem, I pulled out the original cable just in case, and there, miracle!!! Detected immediately.
