Hello,
So if you want to buy Studio 14 HD, convinced that it's top-notch, and you already have a Pinnacle video capture card, you're certainly thinking, "this is a no-brainer."
If, right after that, since you're not wet behind the ears, you say to yourself, "this seems obvious but I'll check the box anyway," then you'll be jumping for joy (on the inside) because you'll read on the box "requires a Pinnacle card"!
As a final precaution, you'll ask the seller, ready to hear the celestial trumpets "oh yes, dear Sir, no worries, it's even written on it, go ahead with your eyes closed, you've made the right choice, go on and be happy."
Well, what you hear might not be as musical, but basically, it's the same thing: "it's just as it's written, Sir" ...
No matter, you've still grasped the general meaning and you're now convinced that you've made the right choice. With a light heart, you buy it!
Well, I did that, and I lost my €59...
Because my Pinnacle card doesn't work with Studio 14 HD (I clarify for the skeptics that it works perfectly with my old Studio 8...)
Also know that an unwrapped software cannot be refunded, even if it's the seller who misled you. I bought at FNAC because I thought this venerable establishment was still governed by rules of responsibility and respectability.
But no, ladies and gentlemen, they have become like many others: mercantile and irresponsible: "We made a mistake, no problem, you will bear the consequences!"
The seller told me verbatim "Requires a Pinnacle card" does not mean "Compatible with all Pinnacle cards, especially the old ones, sir."
On top of being bad faith, he is anti-old!
That said, in terms of substance, in pure French, the seller is not wrong.
Only, as an educated customer who heard a confirmation from the most reliable sources, the underlying caveat doesn't seem obvious, or at least not at first, after a few hours of reflection and a good dose of bad faith...
Well, you’ve understood well. Don’t count on the box or the sellers to guarantee service or uphold commitments.
So open your ears wide: Warning: Studio 14 HD is NOT compatible with all Pinnacle cards!!!!!!
Now you can do as you wish.
By the way, for anyone willing to take the risk, I have a brand-new Studio 14HD, at cost price! Never used...

Hello,
Here it is, I have done many attempts with and between Pinnacle Studio 9.4 and V14, so here is my conclusion (WHICH ONLY RELATES TO MY TESTS AND MYSELF)
Issues with V14
- I can't capture (why?) digital videos from a PANASONIC mini DV camcorder (NV-GS230) with V14.
- I can't capture (I think I know why) analog videos from a SONY Hi8 camcorder.
- I can capture HDV and/or DV videos from a SONY HDR-HC9 camcorder without any issues.
Conclusions to achieve something
- I capture the digital video from the PANASONIC using Studio 9.4 through a 1394 input and edit them with V14.
- I capture the analog video from the SONY Hi8 (via a Pinnacle AV/DV card) using Studio 9.4 through (3) RCA inputs and edit them with V14.
As for the SONY HDR-HC9 camcorder, there’s no issue. I capture its video directly with V14 by selecting the initial video type (HDV or DV). But I could very well capture it in DV with Studio 9.4 and do the editing with V14.
The only drawback with my system is that it requires having two software programs on my computer (Pinnacle Studio 9.4 and V14).

I completely agree, in the rolling club, welcome! Especially don't buy studios 14 because the graphics cards don't work, impossible to get a refund, Pinnacle doesn't tell you all this when you buy it.
Big scam, does anyone have a solution?????

Hello, I have the same problem. I bought Studio HD and with my Dazzle DVC 103, apparently it's not compatible because it worked with Studio 11 but now it doesn't work anymore, so should I sell it?
I just installed Studio 14, it works perfectly for HD, but I have no sound when capturing analog tapes. I was using Studio 12 for analog before and after some adjustments everything worked. Now, even with my old Studio 12 and the old settings, I can't capture the sound from the VHS. Thank you for giving me some advice.
Edit the film, there are 3 soundtracks at the bottom, check if, on mute at the end of the line, you can put the soundtrack you want and delete the one you want
as long as the HD film is the same duration as the SD
I used to always extract the soundtracks from the films and modify them in mp3 with Nero Wave Editor when the music was too loud and the speech too quiet, and as soon as the soundtrack was correct, I would put it back in the film with Studio 14 by deleting the original soundtrack, then creating the SD film on DVD.

Hello, so for the account, I don't understand anything at all. What do you call a Pinnacle card? I have Studio 11 and I don't have a Pinnacle card as you say. For me, if I buy Studio 14 and its installation disc, I uninstall 11 and install 14 without any other concerns.
to you...
to you...
You don't need a card if you're only dealing with digital (for example, from a DV camcorder). If you want to retrieve videos from a VHS tape or Hi8 videos, that's not digital, so you'll need to go through a capture card.
That's what I do with my Studio 8, paired with a Pinnacle DC10plus card.
On the Studio 14, this option is of course retained, except that their software is no longer compatible with their older cards, contrary to what they write on their box.
In your case, you're apparently not using analog capture, so no worries, at least on that point.

Hello Glandu, (I hadn't seen you in this conversation)
I use Studio 9.3 and when I bought V14 I thought I could do the same thing as you. Well, NOTHING, V14 recognizes my PANA NV-GS230 cam (because I can control it without any problem from V14) but Studio V14 doesn't want to capture anything from this old machine (2 to 2.5 years????) On the other hand, it seems (I'm putting this conditionally because I haven't done complete tests with the SONY HC9 yet). My main concern is the PANA
Look in the same conversation, I explain my issues.
If you have any idea about my/issues, thank you in advance.

Hi there!
Actually, he wanted to talk about both the software and the capture card. The software installs without any issues (using it is another story depending on the power and settings/maintenance of the computer!), but when it comes to compatibility with "older" cards or boxes, it's a different matter. I encountered a similar problem when I changed my computer. I had an XP computer, and when the fan controller of the old PC failed, I assembled a new computer and wanted to reinstall my card to continue capturing via Pinnacle, which was supplied with Studio 11 at the time. But on my new computer, even though I installed both XP and Vista, the card didn’t work on either; I was told, "your card is too old and no patch exists." In short, I had to buy Studio 12 Plus with the Movie Box (capture box) and therefore got rid of the other one that worked perfectly. Only the Studio 11 software could work, but not the card provided with it.
Now, it's certain that if you don't need to use capturing with Pinnacle, there's no problem; you can change software versions if you want, and that's it. But if you want to capture, it’s a whole different story because the card or box, if you change software version, is done for! I tried my Movie Box with Studio 14, and the box can no longer work! So, I went back to version 12 and was able to get a refund from Pinnacle (not without difficulties)!

Good evening,
Being, almost out of OBLIGATION, a loyal customer of PINACLE, I am interested in knowing how you managed to get a refund from a company where, when you happen to find someone to talk to, you quickly realize it's all just hot air.
For card issues, I use an AV/DV with a black or blue box that is between 13 and 15 years old. In other words, the drivers for this type of card have been obsolete since..............

First of all, "everything that is open is not covered" for software due to piracy. So here, you need to see with Pinnacle. Then clearly outline the problem(s) and emphasize that because of this, you cannot use the product. They will then send you (often by email) a document to fill out, which you must complete and attest that you have uninstalled everything and that you haven't made any copies... They will have you download a software to completely uninstall the program, and then you must return the software with the original receipt (or a copy) as thoroughly as possible, and then they will refund you the price paid. But after that, they must have granted their approval for the refund, and that’s only if there is absolutely no possible solution to your problem.
In any case, it can be long and annoying!

Thank you for enlightening me. Indeed, I had sold my DC10plus card and bought a Mowie Box with Studio 9. You just need to buy an internal conversion card or an external Dazzle video converter.
But you may already know that by now.
But you may already know that by now.
Not necessarily, your movie box might have more chances than the DC10plus and be recognized by Studio14. It's possible but not certain.
If you are now considering buying a new card, you might as well choose one that is not from the Pinnacle brand because, from my experience, the DC10plus was not compatible with other software (Ulead, Sony, etc.).
And in that case, if you buy a card independent of Pinnacle, you would then be free to choose the product that suits you best, as Pinnacle is not known for making the most feature-rich or stable products!
It's up to you to decide.

It's not that I'm defending Pinnacle, but for the past 10 years I've been using it, and now that I have a good computer, we don't have stability issues. I upgraded my Mowie box from XP to Vista with an update from the site and from Studio 9 to 11 without any problems, but it took some searching. I still defend this software because Avid acquired it and provided the Avid Liquid pro engine, giving it a finalization and burning processing power that I don't see with Nero 7, my usual burner, Nero Vision.
I'm considering the purchase of Studio 14 because I don't work with HD yet.
The discussion is open.

I confirm that Studio 14 is not compatible with all cards - With Studio 11 and 12, my PCTV 100i PAL capture device was recognized by these two software, but with Studio 14 I need to buy another one - question: which one?
Thank you for your answer.
Thank you for your answer.
I would like to point out that I updated Mowie Box from Studio 8 to Studio 11 for Vista, but you have to look carefully
so for your PCTV card, there may be an update.

Hello everyone,
I've been using Studio since version 7 and started with the DC10 Plus capture card, then moved on to the Deluxe card (Moviebox PCI)...
I noticed that since version 12, my Deluxe card is no longer recognized even after looking for the driver on the official site.... So I was hoping that version 14 HD would have fixed this, but no...
As a result, to avoid getting too frustrated about spending money on versions that make you feel like "buy another card even though the one you have works fine," I installed version 11 alongside it just to allow me to use my beloved card... the two programs coexist quite well.
It’s a bit disappointing and cumbersome as a principle of operation, but well, it's not the only program creator that makes us spend more by providing incomplete programs or that change completely to the point of no longer being compatible with older functions..... (This reminds me of a certain Bill, funny!!!!)
So in conclusion, never trust the sellers (they don't know, they just sell, that's all). And don’t expect to be able to use your old capture cards on new versions.... plan to keep the old versions as well...
Happy holidays to everyone!

Exactly, I did the same thing, waiting for a hypothetical response from Pinnacle, between Studio 9.3 and Studio V14. There might be a problem when I want to process captures made with one and then edit them with the other.
For example: Capture from the PANA cam with 9.3 and editing with V14 (that should work) But capture from the SONY HC9 with V14 and tweaking with 9.3, what about that??????????????

Hello Tyan, I really like your aplomb and it's true, I have Studio 11 and I haven't been able to update my mowie box yet.
For Studio 14, I found an online offer for a Studio 14 pack with an analog transfer module, VHS SAVER, for €99 but I discarded the link.

I too have HUGE problems with V14. It seems to me (contrary to what is said) that it only recognizes video files because if I capture from a SONY HC9 camcorder (which was lent to me), it works, but from digital video from my PANA NV-GS230 mini DV, nothing works ???????
I am waiting for a WRITTEN response from Pinnacle as soon as possible (within a week), and depending on that (if it ever arrives), I will publish on this site the complete copy of the letter I sent to Pinnacle after my phone question, as well as the first response from Pinnacle following my phone call
DESCRIPTION OF THE Problem
I have been using Studio 9.3 for a long time with a PANA NV-GS230 mini DV camcorder and everything has been going pretty well. In view of transitioning to HD soon, I just purchased V14 which, officially, is capable of handling AVCHD and HDV. Now, with V14, while it recognizes my NV-GS230 very well, it no longer wants to CAPTURE anything from it. The only text that appears on the capture screen, under the Pinnacle logo before, during, and after an attempt to capture is "the acquisition of video from the device (NV-GS230) has failed."
I have indeed called and written to Pinnacle for explanations, but the response I received via email seems so absurd that I am trying to get other information through this forum. So if you know and/or have any ideas to solve my problem, I thank you in advance.

Hello,
I have the same type of problem. I have 2 computers, each with a PINNACLE AV/DV card that works very well with Studio 9.3. I did the same thing as you, I bought Studio Ultimate Collection V14 for €110 as a Christmas gift for my wife. I should specify that she uses 3 different camcorders: 1 SONY CCD-TR820 (analog Hi8) - 1 PANASONIC NV-GS230 (digital mini DV) and 1 SONY HDR-HC9 (digital mini DV HDV and/or DV format). Since Christmas, I’ve been trying to capture videos from these three camcorders and there !!!!!!!!
V14 only wants to take videos from the SONY HC9. Now I’m trying MAGIX 15 (which according to the manual is capable of capturing analog?????) but no better results. However, it also works with the PANASONIC (that's progress).
To date, the only solution I have found is to capture videos from the SONY HC9 with V14 directly onto the computer via a 1394 input, the videos from the PANASONIC with Studio 9.3 via a 1394 input, either directly onto the computer or through a 1394 input but using the PINNACLE AV/DV card. As for the analog, I use Studio 9.3 by inputting RCA into the PINNACLE AV/DV card.
A problem that must be known: YOU CAN OPEN A PROJECT MADE WITH 7-8 OR 9 WITH V14 BUT IT IS NOT POSSIBLE TO DO THE REVERSE (open with 7-8-9 or 10 a project made with 14).
If I can’t find any solutions, then like you, I have a complete and BRAND NEW Studio Ultimate Collection V14 software to sell at cost price (€110).

Hello,
Analog capture necessarily involves a capture card (analog/digital transcoding). The VDL support for capture consists of selecting the different PAL or SECAM modes, video formats, and other parameters.
In summary: an internal or external analog capture card, software for capture (here, VDL or Studio 14)

Good evening,
I have an analog capture card (2 PCs = 2 AV/DV PINNACLE cards that are between 13 and 15 years old) (I was a pioneer in analog video editing). They work very well. The only issue is that V14 does not want to recognize it. So I capture in analog (via my AV/DV card) with Studio 9.4 and then I do the editing with V14. (In SD quality) since this P...... software V14 doesn't even want to recognize a digital camcorder PANASONIC that is 2 to 2.5 years old.

Good evening,
If possible, I will try at some point but you know, after having struggled for a long time, when I finally find a solution "I tend to say (to my wife among others) DO NOT TOUCH ANYTHING MORE. DOES IT WORK? DOES IT SUIT YOU? OK, THAT'S GOOD. For today: that's enough!!!!
Because at home, when it comes to computing, it's me who looks for (and often doesn't find) solutions for one or more issues and it's my wife who does the captures/editing/etc....

Good evening Glandu and also EVERYONE else,
I have 2 questions to ask you (to Glandu and to others who know) With the first one I will come off as an "ignoramus" but so be it (it's been a long time since ridicule killed anyone)
A) I have an analog/digital capture card Pinnacle AV/DV that works very well with Studio 9.4. I am always ready to try something else (VLD 15) for example but I don't know this software (unless it goes by another name at my place) If you could enlighten me on what VLD 15 is, thank you in advance
B) when after making a video capture with 9.4 and while I am editing with V14 sometimes (it's random) when I make a cut the playback cursor jumps back X clips earlier, even to the beginning of the film, as soon as I click on the cut button. Do you have any idea what the cause might be?

To stop playback at a given point, there are 2 solutions:
1) File > Settings > Program > Playback > check "The space bar stops at the current playback position"
or
2) simpler, the keyboard keys:
J = rewind
L = fast forward
K = stop at the current playback position

1) File > Settings > Program > Playback > check "The space bar stops at the current playback position"
or
2) simpler, the keyboard keys:
J = rewind
L = fast forward
K = stop at the current playback position

I will respond regarding the analog-digital card that Pinnacle does not update; keeping XP or Vista in addition to Seven is possible.
The magazines had clearly warned us about the compatibility of third-party software with Seven, both 32 and 64-bit.
For example: my scanner, which is too old, the manufacturer does not provide an update.

In continuation of Glandu's post.
External enclosures or internal cards do not work under Seven 64 bits (no updates for plugins, including Canopus and Matrox). However, with Seven 32 bits, many models are accepted.

You join, SAKAYOU2607, all the disappointed Pinnacle users and more with Studio 14, which is facing numerous problems (frequent crashes when editing native AVCHD, failure to recognize certain camcorders...). Previously, Pinnacle had good products, but for a few years now, the quality has not been up to par, which is why many users have turned to more reliable competitors. Therefore, it is no surprise that Pinnacle has lost its place as a leader.
For once, I agree with you. An example of quality loss: before, when I was capturing and had the file already in AVI for example, and then I was doing an editing afterwards of this file, I had so little quality loss that it was hardly noticeable, if at all. Since then, even if I make an excellent AVI, the quality will be terrible after re-recording (for example, if I acquired a great video and then cut out commercials, it turns out awful). On the other hand, if I need to edit, since I only have the Pinnacle capture device, if I want minimal loss, I have to capture like usual, but instead of recording in AVI from the start, I do it in DV, and then there are hardly any issues. In short, yes, they have really decreased in quality just like customer service, which used to be great, and it’s a shame because it was really good before.

We are talking about Studio 14 HD and not Studio 12.
studio 14 hd is compatible with 64 bit, you just need to change the installation directory because on seven 64 bit you automatically have the installation in 32 and 64 bit
best regards
Indeed, I own the Pinnacle capture card as well as the blueBOX purchased with Studio 8 or 10 (I can't remember).
Since then, I have installed Studio 12 on XP Pro SP3.
From my HI8 camcorder, I have burned DVDs of all my 8 mm tapes on my standalone Philips DVD recorder.
The goal is to edit them with Studio 12 on my PC, via my blueBOX
connected to my standalone DVD recorder.
Unlike the standalone players, which I have tested multiple times without any problems, my PC's CD drive does not recognize these burned DVDs...
I have therefore opted for the blueBOX connected to the capture card, but unfortunately, the blueBOX is not recognized, so I cannot capture my films through this accessory
I will therefore try the solution suggested by a.faurie on April 22, 2010, which is to reinstall the Pinnacle drivers
I'm keeping my fingers crossed!!!
If a.faurie reads this message, please send me a little message with any additional help if necessary...
Thank you.
