Hello,
I have a problem when I connect a projector to my MacBook. On the projection screen, only my desktop wallpaper appears without any icons or anything at all. To see a PowerPoint, I have to launch it in slideshow mode to see something. But when I want to play a movie, using QuickTime Player for example, it doesn't work. I can see it on my computer screen, but on the big screen, there's only my wallpaper (desktop without icons). However, I noticed that when I go into system preferences, in certain tabs, the windows display on both screens. It's a bit strange because not long ago, on the same projector, I had exactly my computer screen on the big screen and I could see everything I was doing. Do you have any idea what could be the issue?
Is it possible that a configuration setting changed by itself? Other people have used the projector; could they have messed up something?

You go to Preferences/Monitor
In the "Layout" tab, you check "Video Mirroring" at the bottom left.

Thank you for your response, but actually in monitors I don't have a layout tab. Is it possible that this tab only appears when the computer is connected to an external monitor?

Sorry for not getting back to you sooner, but actually yesterday I tried again with the beamer and this time I had the layout tab (it only shows up when it's connected to a monitor apparently), I clicked on video mirroring and it works!

Hi,
normally, you just need to drag your windows to the far right of your computer screen for them to appear on the external monitor.
