full mailbox with Free Solved/Closed

Question

Hello,

I can no longer receive messages because I have the following message:

You are receiving this message to inform you that your mailbox is full. You can no longer receive new emails:
they are being returned to the sender.

In order to receive mail again, you need to clean up your mailbox:

- if you are accessing your email via the POP protocol, check
that you haven't selected the option 'leave messages on the
server'. If it is checked, then you must either uncheck it or
delete some messages from your inbox.

- if you are accessing your email via the IMAP protocol or the Webmail interface, the messages remain on the server until:
1) you delete them and
2) you empty the trash.

To see the size occupied by your mailbox, go to
webmail: <http://webmail.free.fr/>, log in, and click on the '% disk space' icon.

I have completed all the tasks without success.

I had the same issue, here’s what to do.
Go to Inbox and click on "Show deleted messages."
If you see a long list of strikethrough messages, it means that for some mysterious reason they still exist on the server.
Then clicking on "Empty the trash" deletes all these messages and restores your mailbox to its youthful size.

Hi,
Don't you have any antispam? In this case, the messages are stored and count towards the % of the inbox. They need to be deleted.
Or a message rule that sends them to a "Junk" folder. Delete those as well.
And empty the trash.

Response to the problem encountered by Sandra:

You need to go to your email inbox, then locate the INBOX icon at the top right of your screen.
Activate the tab that is located in the INBOX section and switch to the Sent-mail section.
Once this operation is complete, you will see all the messages that are on the server. You just need to delete them afterwards.

I can't empty my mailbox on the server. It is full and I followed the instructions given to me:

I think I have found a way to clean up (sanitize) maildir: for this, you need to go to https://webmail.free.fr/ or simply avoid keeping unopened messages that you haven't taken the time to read and that you keep for a rainy day...

Thank you obi38  Using the address provided allowed me to delete the large number of inaccessible "ghost" emails with the normal webmail, it took up nearly 75% of my inbox :x I'm good for a while.

Hello,

You must never forget, when you can no longer receive messages, to EMPTY your trash in the webmail. Often, it is its overflow that blocks the arrival of messages. Your Webmail no longer contains any messages, you have done the cleaning as requested, but there was still that famous trash emptying that we had not thought of doing.

Hello; my Free mailbox is regularly full and I clean it up regularly but the remaining messages, I need to keep them in memory (work) and therefore cannot delete them; what should I do? I also have them at the same time on the Outlook mail at the office; if I delete them directly from my Free mailbox; will I still have them on my Outlook? If that's the case, that would be good? Instead of using the Free webmail, you use a mail client, such as Thunderbird, to retrieve your emails on your PC.
