Hello, do you do ATL Gr + @ to display it?

Tip from Ethan35: solution found, you need to press ctrl + alt at the same time + the at sign key and it works... so you have to press 3 keys, hold down ctrl + alt + at sign... and yes it's HP after all....

Tip from FoxizPlaying: If you installed clownfish it's normal, I just uninstalled it and everything works again. :)

In the regional and language options under Keyboard Language, are you sure about the keyboard and the corresponding country?
For example, on a French keyboard @ = alt gr + 0 key
On a Belgian keyboard @ = alt gr + 2 key

Under Windows 8, click on language next to the calendar (bottom right corner). If your keyboard is QWERTY, select ENG INTL as the preferred language. The at sign (key 2 and @) will be activated.

If ENG INTL is not available, you need to add it as follows:
Go to Settings and click on Change PC settings. Go to Time and language, then Region and language. Click on Add a language and select English if your keyboard is QWERTY; otherwise select French if your keyboard is AZERTY.
That should solve the at sign issue.

To type all these special characters, remember to keep pressing the Alt Gr or Alt key.

Are you properly set to the corresponding keyboard and country in the regional and linguistic settings Keyboard Language options?
Examples:
- French keyboard @ = Alt Gr + 0 key (à)
- Belgian keyboard @ = Alt Gr + 2 key (é)

Otherwise, several software programs with shortcuts involving the Alt Gr key block shortcuts for that key, like Clownfish for example. So try closing your software and try typing it again.

You can also type the at sign with the keys Alt + 64. Or, you can copy it then paste it.

Hello  for my case, it's an HP PC with a QWERTY keyboard; you need to select French in the taskbar and it will work well with ctrl+ alt+0 or alt gr+0. good luck

for my part, I struggled with this issue and I've finally found the solution for my ThinkPad, and I'm here to share it with you!
In fact, the problem was that my keyboard had been replaced and apparently, a Belgian model was installed (the @ sign is located under the 2 and not on the 0!) so I proceeded as follows:
in the control panel
find "region and language"
select change keyboards or other input methods
then select "change keyboards"
By default, there is a French keyboard + another English one installed, so "add a keyboard". For my part, I added a French keyboard (Belgium)
make sure it's the one at the top of the list of installed keyboards so that it is used by Windows!
It should also appear in the gray bar above the list of installed keyboards.
save with ok
for me, everything works now, I have my @ by holding altgr and pressing the 2 key, all is well :)
