I have the answer! Not complicated at all! So those who have Skype and Clownfish! Clownfish prevents the Alt Gr key from working, so uninstall it even if Skype is closed, it is still active!

I've finally figured out how to get the at symbol in Word. Now I need to use the Alt Gr + @ key combination. It's worth remembering that to get the at symbol in all other software, like Photoshop, Illustrator, Excel, PowerPoint, etc., as well as in my emails, I need to use the Ctrl + Alt + @ key combination. For some unknown reason, my Vista operating system!!!??? has decided that the at symbol in Word is no longer in the same place as in the others. I found it by trying all possible combinations of key presses at Alt Gr + @.

I’m reaching out because I also have a Mac (gifted by my husband, someone who only saw Windows)
after my insistence, he installed Windows on the Mac (oh my goodness)
he had to buy me a new keyboard (Mac, of course) with a numeric keypad

we searched everywhere to access the at symbol

and miracle, we found it thanks to the numeric keypad

there's a key above the 7, on this key there's a rectangle with a cross inside, you just had to click on it!!!!!

Good evening and thank you for taking an interest in my problem. Unfortunately, my keyboard is not in French (France) but in French (Belgium), and normally I find the at sign by typing é+alt gr. In French (France), I type à+alt gr, and nothing works, and of course, I have restarted my machine!
What now ??????

I just reinstalled WinXP on my computer and when I pressed (Alt Gr + à), I got a curly brace instead of the at sign. My at sign was appearing with (Alt Gr + é).
I came here and saw that there was a discussion about Belgian French and French from France. So I checked that and switched everything to French from France, but it still didn't work.
And then I noticed a little blue FR at the bottom of the screen next to the clock. That corresponded to the keyboard language and was indeed set to Belgian French. So I right-clicked on the little blue FR, went to settings, deleted Belgian French, and selected French from France, and there you go.

If this can help anyone who has the same problem as I did...

I have had the Livebox since Saturday 01-12-08 and since then I can no longer get the at symbol on my keyboard by pressing Alt Gr + 0, so I can't enter contacts in my messaging. The only solution I've found is to transfer an at symbol to my messaging by copying it to a document file on my PC and doing copy-paste whenever I need the at symbol.
If someone has an easier solution, I am interested. I specify that even when changing the keyboard, the result is the same.

I'm not sure this will work, but it's worth a try, just in case your "manips" have "upset" the keyboard.

What happens if you reboot your machine (your PC?)?

If that doesn't help, try a restore to yesterday, supposed to be before your manips.

In summary, there are 3 possibilities:

1) hardware issue (if the at sign works when plugging in another keyboard to the same computer): in this case, try restarting the machine after removing the battery if it's a laptop, then USE "CTRL + ALT" instead of ALT GR if the restart doesn't solve anything.

2) software remapping issue: recently installed software has "stolen" the shortcut for the at sign. Uninstall the software, or revert to a backup made before the issue.

3) keyboard language change issue (often from France/Switzerland/Belgium): check the international keyboard settings and make sure that the region matches your keyboard.

It's simple...

Hello, I had the same problem as you, I found a solution but every time you want to put the at sign you have to proceed like this:
in startup go to: ACCESSORIES then SYSTEM TOOL then CHARACTER MAP,
select the box where the at sign is, SELECT, close the box and then paste it with the right-click of the mouse after your address name,
it works but you have to do this operation every time you want to put the at sign.

I had the same issue with the Asus GPU TWEAK graphics card program.
When I stop the application, the at sign comes back!

On W8, in QWERTZ, at the bottom right, switch to DEU (Swiss German keyboard instead of FRA) and then return to FRA (Swiss French keyboard)... problem solved..!
The ! had also disappeared!
