Restore the at sign key

Question

Hello,I want to send an email to a recipient, but as soon as I press "@" either Alt Gr + @ or Ctrl Alt + @, instead of the "@" symbol appearing, a website, "plattemedia.com", pops up inviting me to subscribe to buy movies. I have noticed that I can type other symbols (e.g.: ] ^`[{ ... ) but not the "@" or the right parenthesis. This file does not exist in the uninstall files. I checked the "auto-complete" option in internet settings and found nothing. I am using Windows Vista. This file was placed on 11/23/08. The only file installed on November 23 is Microsoft Works.Thank you very much for your help

Hello cortex714 While waiting to find a solution to your problem, press Alt+o64 and you will get @ @+ --  Curiosity on CCM is not a flaw but a quality.

To obtain an at symbol ( @ ) with a French keyboard, you need to press the following key combination: alt gr (the key to the right of the space bar) + the 0 key. If it is true that you cannot produce the at symbol with this key combination, it is possible that your alt gr key is no longer working, and in that case, you will have no choice but to change the keyboard.

Thank you for getting back to me so quickly, but the Alt Gr key works because I can type the other symbols except for the at sign and the closing parenthesis (right). The latter symbol was just typed using Alt Gr.

Thank you for your response, but please be clearer as I am a novice.
I found the file in the "all programs" menu of the startup. I put it in the trash, but it still reappears whenever I type "at sign" to send an email.
I await your insight on this matter. For now, I am copying and pasting "at sign" to write an email address.
The file "Platte media" is still in the trash and it is not visible in add or remove a program.

Hi,

Have you tried scanning your PC?
Because often this kind of problem comes from malicious software like keyloggers and others..
If you haven't done a scan, I recommend downloading SpyBot and doing it.

I downloaded Spy-bot but during the analysis, I was told that the scan is not possible because some software has agreed in their license agreement to allow certain spam and others. I had tried with Turn-up Maintenance but that didn't remove it. The icons for the "Platte Media" software are on my desktop and in the recycle bin. Thank you again for helping me find a solution

So I did a little research online, and I found something that might restore the functionality of the at sign.

There are people who managed to fix the key by simply removing your keyboard in safe mode, and then restarting your PC in normal mode; this way, the keyboard will be reinstalled, and the ALT GR key will work again. From what I've read, that’s how it worked.

If it still doesn't work, try pressing CTRL, ALT +0 (at sign key) and see if the at sign appears.

I can't get the at sign with Alt + 064.
How do you remove the keyboard in safe mode?
I went to "programs and features" and then clicked on "keyboard" to uninstall it, and I'm being told that this action is reserved for competent people, while I'm a novice in this area.
For now, I’m copying and pasting the at sign, but it’s not practical.
How can I remove this file from my computer if I can't find it in programs and features?

Hi everyone. Just to let you know, the S3 Unichrome utility for graphics cards also removes the at sign. Uninstalling it makes it work again.  Hoping this works for all of you.  Have a good day.
