Unable to delete a PNG image file

Hello,
I downloaded a .png image file that I didn't want and I can't delete it now. I've even tried some weird things like opening it with Notepad and deleting the content, but it seems like it really likes my PC... I keep getting the same message: unable to delete the file... sharing violation... it seems that the source or destination file is in use...
What could it possibly be? I thought it might be a virus, but it doesn't seem like it...
Thanks in advance...

Hi there!
- Create a file with the same name and the same extension (.png) in another folder.
- Then, move this file to the folder where the other image is located.
- Windows will then ask you to replace this file; you say yes, which will allow you to delete the second one!! !-

Hey again,
it's quite strange, I can perform the action you mentioned, I can replace the file but for some reason I can't delete it... weird. I actually thought about doing this action except that instead of creating a new file with the same name in another folder, I did it in the same one. Unfortunately, neither of those two actions are effective...
If by any chance you have another idea, feel free to share it with me.... thanks again...

Hi Gus,
If you're having trouble, there's a solution offered by the freeware
Gipo@MoveOnBoot 1.9.5
Principle: deleting the file on the next boot when the file is not yet locked
Available for download at:

Sincerely and see you soon

Well done! A big thank you to Hourrahh and of course to Beloche13, because now I’m finally free!
It feels good to know that I won’t be obsessed anymore by a poor image file that refuses to cooperate and to go willingly or forcibly to the recycle bin...
So a big thank you to everyone...
I completely agree:

Hello, I downloaded a software called Bubble Dock on my computer. Every time I turn on my computer, it shows me files labeled empty_feed. I right-click to delete them, but it doesn't work; instead, it displays a page saying "Do you really want to place this file in the Recycle Bin?" Then there are explanations about the file "empty_feed, Type: PNG Image, Size: 33.7 KB." There are two buttons that say "Yes or No"; I click on Yes. Another page appears saying "Element not found. It no longer exists in C:/Users/mandy/Desktop. Check the item's location and try again." There are two buttons that say "Retry or Cancel"; I click on Retry and it shows me exactly the same page.

Well done HOURRAH,
I had exactly the same problem as Gus (on W2000 pro) and the software you recommend, Gipo@MoveOnBoot 1.9.5, which is simple, free, and lightweight, turned out to be lifesaving.
A thousand thanks. -
Thank you very much Hourrah! I had the same problem and it was starting to get annoying, it's incredible how such a tiny file can mess up Explorer and be so complicated to delete :s now the problem is solved ;) thanks again

Hello, I have a similar problem, but the file is on a Nokia 6230 mobile phone, on the internal memory. I cannot delete it, either from the mobile or by connecting it to my PC. The file is read-only and I can't change that! I hope you can help me find a solution to this very annoying problem! Thank you.
