Hello,
I installed CCleaner thinking it was a program that filtered out corrupted files or those containing
viruses.
Every day I ran a scan and strangely there were always a bunch of files to "clean", something I
foolishly rushed to do.
It was two days ago when I opened my email inbox (IncrediMail) that I realized it only contained the messages from that day. All the others had disappeared.
I quickly connected it with CCleaner!
So what should I do? Are all my files lost?
If anyone has a little solution to offer, I would of course be grateful and thank them
in advance for the time they take to respond.
Could you also tell me exactly what CCleaner is for and whether I should remove it from my desktop?
Thank you very much.
A novice, quite disheartened and very disappointed in my naivety.

I forgot to mention that I received two messages that I couldn't open
I tried several options and ultimately I deleted them.
Then I ran a test that detected 4 infections; I managed to remove 3 but there's still 1 left
Rogue.Eorezo
Since you seemed surprised, I thought that CCleaner might not be responsible for my problem
See you later.

re,
hi,
weird this thing, normally ccleaner doesn't delete email box messages.
Maybe give this a try:

All my apologies, I didn’t see that you had sent me two messages
I went to datarecoverysoftware as you advised
it is indeed noted as IncrediMail recovery software
but after that, I confess I don’t know what to do, I want to specify that I am a beginner and I’m hanging on
to persevere.
Can you tell me why at the end of the day there are so many files in CCleaner and do I need to systematically run
the cleaning for everyone?
I know I’m jumping from one topic to another.
I will read the tutorial you sent me
in the meantime, I will try not to worry because it doesn’t help anything as a certain person would say
@ + GUEG I will try to better understand what is indicated on data....

Good evening GUEG, thank you for following up on my case
I just completed a full scan with Malwarebytes ... no more infections, phew! Finally, one thing
solved
As you advised, I opened the data recovery software, of which the first page is copied below:
IncrediMail Recovery Software
IncrediMail is a mail user agent that produces multimedia messages and is used to read and send emails. Email files in IncrediMail are lost due to viral infection, media corruption, header corruption, vandalism, and fire/water damage. The IncrediMail Recovery Software recovers corrupted mail files, accidentally deleted emails, and emptied emails from the Deleted Items directory. All nuisance, deleted, corrupted mailbox files, .IMM, .IMB, and .IMH files can be immediately recovered by the IncrediMail Recovery software.
OE-Mail Recovery
The OE Mail Recovery is software specially designed for Outlook Express with the fundamental idea of recovering lost, deleted, and corrupted emails.
Stellar Phoenix Mailbox Standard
Stellar Phoenix Mailbox Standard is a powerful utility software that can restore deleted and corrupted emails from Outlook Express mail folders.

The problem is that at this point, I don’t know what to do next; could you guide me, please?
My little nephew, to whom I explained my problem, suggested I download Free Undelete just in case
What do you think?
Of course, for now, I will continue to follow your instructions; it’s wiser not to mix everything up
And let’s not forget that when a problem ..................... and when there is no solution .....................
A little wink to lighten the mood
I’ll talk to you @+ of course at your convenience, have a good day since the night is well advanced.

Hello GUEG,
I'm wondering if you've forgotten about me or if you had too many hours of sleep to catch up on
and you just can't get out of bed? Meanwhile, I've been glued to the computer waiting for you!
Well, if I understood correctly, when a problem arises .........................
but if the internet user who kindly helped us exterminate our last pest, who was tougher than tough
is no longer giving us any updates, does worrying help at all?
You must have gone to the first page of the software you recommended to me, and in the face of my great incompetence
you must have thought that you're wasting your time with such a "loser".
Just kidding
I hope to hear from you soon
@ + GUEG
and don't forget: teasing your super helpful internet user doesn't hurt their effectiveness!

re,
hi Attendaide,
first of all, I can't dedicate all my time to the forum, as I have a family life and a job too, so when I say that I'll find something to help you, I will.
As proof, I found this little utility, which I hope will do the trick.
In fact, I think the other link I gave you (OE recovery) wasn't suitable, so I looked for something else.
So, I believe that now, it should work, otherwise, I don't see another solution, because this utility is really dedicated to the problem you're facing.
That's it, I wish you a good day.

so, have you solved your problem?

Hello GUEG,
I just reconnected since Friday night and I hadn't opened my computer since Wednesday night when I sent you my last message.
So you see, everything was meant to be in a second degree in what I sent you, but an internet user advised me last time not to put lol at the end of every sentence, so I listened to them.
My humor usually comes across well, but it's true that I tend to joke in a deadpan way, and now I see that I messed up miserably. I therefore ask for your forgiveness, and I admit I'm very surprised by your reaction because I tried to include some little winks in this letter, but apparently, you weren't sensitive to them and I feel quite foolish!
Thank you for looking into it for me, that’s very kind of you. I do realize that you’re not at my service, especially since my problem doesn’t block me from sending or consulting anything.
Have a great day to you and your loved ones.

re,
hi,
there's no need to apologize, (it's true that I often take it at face value) anyway,....
by the way, have you managed to recover your deleted messages in Incredimail?

Bonsoir, pouvez-vous m'aider à récupérer des fichiers de la corbeille de CCleaner nettoyés par erreur ?
Hello Swann
To delete a file, you don't need CCleaner; you just put it in the recycle bin and you have a small chance of recovering it before emptying the recycle bin.
CCleaner helps to erase traces, which is different; we don't want anyone to be able to recover the file, so I don't think there's a recycle bin in CCleaner.
In particular, you need to be very careful when using CCleaner's "shredder." You deliberately put the file to be deleted in the shredder, so you can't blame CCleaner for the file being gone.
For cleaning temporary traces and such, a tutorial guides very well to understand CCleaner's settings: https://jesses.pagesperso-orange.fr/Docs/Logiciels/CCleaner.htm No important files should be deleted this way, but one can be surprised if they haven't understood the role of the cleaned files.
As for registry cleaning, it doesn't clean as well as other registry cleaners, but in principle, it shouldn't cause major damage either. If you follow the advice to always accept the backup when CCleaner offers it, the tutorial explains how to restore the deleted key.
In any case, if there are traces of your file somewhere in Windows or elsewhere on the disk:
https://forums.commentcamarche.net/forum/affich-37640569-recuperer-des-donnees-sur-disque-dur-et-cle-usb

You say whatever you want.... First of all, you don’t keep files that you want to "delete" in your recycle bin. If you delete them, it could be due to lack of space, so if you leave them in the recycle bin the space is still the same since the file is not "deleted" as long as it’s in the recycle bin. If it's a file and you're unsure whether to keep it or not, in that case, you keep it, I don't see why you would leave it in the recycle bin, it serves absolutely no purpose at all. If they created a recycle bin, it's precisely for security reasons, in case you remove a file accidentally. To say that you should leave everything in the recycle bin and that CCleaner is useless is a big stretch; you need to stop believing you know things when you know nothing.
(Sorry, but sometimes you have to tell the truth; stop talking seriously like a pro when you say mediocre things that people will believe, because you speak intelligently, but the content is mediocre as I said.)
And CCleaner is not made to erase traces as you say; it is made to clean, and the files it deletes can go to the recycle bin if you check the right option. Moreover, just like the recycle bin, the system is similar. After that, you have options for deleting in 35 passes for example, but those are just options.
Well yes, the words erase and disappear are not the same, especially on a computer (and clean too)... software editors should replace "delete/erase" with "remove" depending on the techniques used since often files can easily be recovered, so I don’t call that erasing or deleting, at least if I have the right dictionary since I was little.
In fact, you just need to be careful about what you do; CCleaner is a very good cleaning tool, she just has to check the option to clean Incredible Mail, etc. and there you go.
After that, what I’m asking is why I say this is simple: Precision is necessary.

re,
regarding the question at the end of the message, there is no need to remove it from your desk, on the contrary, it cleans up the temporary files of Windows (cookies, logs ..........) that you don't need, so feel free to use it, you have nothing to lose.
