Can .dat files be deleted?

Hello everyone   I have a lot of .dat files infected with some trojans.   Can I delete them? Or will that mess up my system???   Thank you in advance.

.dat files are often system files!! Have you run an antivirus? If so, which one? If it's Norton, these files should have been quarantined and you can send them to Symantec for information!!
