No need to get worked up; I'm doing my best to help you, okay? You could at least appreciate that!

First, install the latest version of Foxit Reader

Here are 3 screenshots of version 3.0 (click the links to view them):

1) the menu bar, which appears below the blue bar of the window: you know what menus are, right? File, Edit, etc... that's where Language is:
https://i80.servimg.com/u/f80/13/40/93/01/foxit_10.jpg

2) when you click on Language, the list appears => click on French, and this window will open if French is not already installed:
https://i80.servimg.com/u/f80/13/40/93/01/foxit_11.jpg
that's where you need to click on Yes

Then, follow the instructions I’ve already given (message no. 8), click on Download, etc.

3) you will finally get this:
https://i80.servimg.com/u/f80/13/40/93/01/foxit_12.jpg
in French, finally!!!

I think I've really done my best! If that's not enough, then I'm giving up!

Hello,

All the languages supported by Foxit Reader can be downloaded from their website, here:
https://languages.foxitsoftware.com

Then, simply move the obtained .xml file to the Foxit Reader program files folder and select the language via the Tools > Languages menu!!

Good luck!

I'm sorry, but I don't understand anything. How do we move an XML file to the Program Files folder...? Could you please explain that to me, step by step, please?
Thank you. Marie.

Good evening,

I read everything carefully, but when I try to save it in my Foxit Reader folder (lang), it tells me that I don't have permission to do so, even though I'm logged in as an administrator. I haven't been able to find a solution.
Thank you for your help.

Hello Céline,

This is an old post and things have evolved with the new versions.
From now on, here’s the procedure to follow:

1) Download the latest version of Foxit Reader and install it.
2) Next, go to its folder Program Files => Foxit Software => Foxit Reader:
In this location, you should find a file named lang_fr_fr.xml.
3) You need to create a new folder that you will call lang and transfer the lang_fr_fr.xml file there.

If this file is not already there, you can download it here => https://languages.foxitsoftware.com

If you are having difficulties with your current installation, it’s best to start over from scratch.
Since you will have created the lang folder, you won’t have any problem accessing it.

Then, in the Foxit Reader interface, you will just need to go to Tools => Preferences => Languages => check the box Choose custom language => click on French in the dropdown list below.

Keep us updated, okay? :-)

Yes, French is well managed:

- Menu Bar => Languages => French
- a 1st window opens (in English, of course) that basically says the component is missing, - do you want Foxit to search for it? => click on Yes
- a 2nd window opens and becomes active => as soon as the Download button is enabled, click on it => the language will install automatically and Foxit will switch to French without restarting.

Hello, your method didn't work for me. At one point, I had to go to the suggested site, and I eventually managed to switch to French after much searching. I posted the procedure further down because what is the solution today may not be the same tomorrow. Here’s a direct link.

https://languages.foxitsoftware.com

The page is in English, but with the Google toolbar, this page has been automatically translated.

You will find more explanations in my post.
Have a nice day.

hi

yes, you're right:

go to the foxit reader site ( https://languages.foxitsoftware.com ) and select your language below ;)

or go directly (for the french language) to:

https://languages.foxitsoftware.com

then do a save as and there you go ... (the file must be in the same directory as foxit reader)

returned in English??? You mean it was in French and then all of a sudden, for no reason, it switched back to English?
Well, I don't see how that's possible!
Did you, for example, do an update?

Do you have version 3.0? The one I have on my PC, I downloaded it here:
http://foxit.vo.llnwd.net/o28/pub/foxit/reader/desktop/win/3.x/3.0/enu/FoxitReader30_enu_Setup.exe
You click on the link and the download starts right away.
Then, you need to uninstall your previous version, then install this one and follow the instructions I provided above.

Once everything is OK, you should definitely not do any updates if the software prompts you for them.
Since apparently there's a language issue with the new versions, it's better to refrain. This will likely be fixed in future versions, but if you want to try them, make sure to keep this one so you can reinstall it if necessary.

Good luck and keep me posted!

Good evening!
Although when requesting Foxit in French for download, including in the name of the downloaded file: latest version 3.1.4.1125, there is no French, nor "languages" in the menu bar, it can indeed be found in tools then preferences but it doesn't download.... problem....
Thank you for any help.

Hello, I have Foxit version 3.1.4.1125 and I was able to change the language to French as follows.
Here is a link that allows you to download the language packs according to your software version.

https://languages.foxitsoftware.com

Then simply right-click on the link and select "Save as" to the exact location of the program.
Also available for:
Foxit Phantom 1.0.10901
Foxit reader 2.0.2007.1316

Hi, there's the new version 4.2.1 0401 but still no downloadable French translation... if anyone is motivated to translate?!

Topemeraude, it's exactly as I explained!

- Menu Bar => Languages => French
- A first window opens (in English, of course) that basically says the component is missing, - do you want Foxit to search for it? => click on Yes
- A second window opens and activates => as soon as the Download button is enabled, click on it => the language will install automatically and Foxit will switch to French without restarting.

No need to re-download it, okay?

Ah! Maybe you haven't downloaded the latest version?
Normally, it's not under Tools, but directly in the menu bar, so I think you have a different version. I can't check because I'm currently on a Mac and I don't have my Windows PC at hand...

Try downloading it again here: https://www.numerama.com/tag/logiciel/
and keep me posted, okay?

Don't get discouraged, you'll eventually make it!

Good evening,
Be careful with the version because the latest ones do not allow you to download the French package!
Have a good evening.
Later!

It works perfectly, thank you, I had already done it, it's just annoying that it doesn't work with the latest version, announced in French, but that's okay, I was already using an older version of Foxit, it was very good and this one looks even better, especially for converting PDF to text, it's great
thank you, happy holidays!

Hi,

I stuck with version 3.0, still downloadable here =>
http://foxit.vo.llnwd.net/o28/pub/foxit/reader/desktop/win/3.x/3.0/enu/FoxitReader30_enu_Setup.exe

Check page 1 of this post (it's a shame, we can no longer see the message numbers), I provided detailed explanations there.

Good luck!

No, not your fault: the site is much less readable than before and it's not always easy to navigate, especially when a subject spans more than one page ...

The most important thing is that you were able to solve the problem! :-)

You absolutely have to go through IE, otherwise it doesn't work.

No surprise there: I don't use IE and I haven't had any issues...

It seems to be a trend on the internet to think highly of oneself.
Advice from a foolish person: go to the Foxit translations here: http://languages.foxitsoftware.com/search_untrans.php and contribute to the free instead of wasting time lecturing others. Learning to be less full of oneself is also good for you.

apparently the latest online version 3.0.2222 does not handle French contrary to what is indicated.

I followed your instructions well, but I can't find what you indicated
There is indeed the "tools" link, and I chose the languages option and clicked on French, but quite a bit of text appears in English, and I read English very poorly
Moreover, when trying to download, it doesn't respond, it won't start ......
