Hello,
here it is: I created a slideshow with PowerPoint and I added music.
The problem is that as soon as I send it to friends, they can see the photos but cannot hear the music.
At first, I had included an MP3 file. I read in a forum that it was necessary to use a WAV file.
What I did, but the problem still exists. I also reduced the size of the photos; but it still doesn’t work.
Is there anyone who could help me? Thanks in advance!

Hi, did you really embed the music in your PPS file, or did you just provide the file path when creating your slides? This question comes up often, because PowerPoint will look for the music and the videos on the hard drive of your computer. So if only the path was put in your slide, it’s quite normal that your friends don’t hear the music.

To put the music in my slideshow, I did Insert "Movie and Sound," then "From file," and I clicked on the file I chose. The problem may be there? but in that case how should I do it? -
Indeed, the problem comes from there yes ... I don’t have PowerPoint in front of me (not on this PC), but I am sure that the “complete” insertion of the file is doable, I’m now waiting for other members of CCM to give you their input to help, because I can’t remember how I did it (it’s been a long time since I’ve done it).

Good news! I did it! it works.
However I had to convert my WAV file which took up a lot of space.
I found on the forum a trick with the tape recorder (a bit complicated). There might be a simpler way but it doesn't matter; I’m glad I managed to achieve my goal.

Following your reply, I went back to the forum and I saw that you had to add the audio file from "slideshow," transitions and sound; so I tried that in my file.
I don't know if it will work now. I’ll email it to my brother and we’ll see tomorrow!

Hello Manise, Me too I’m trying to make a PowerPoint PPS with music but I have to make a faux pas because when I run my PPS the music only appears on the first slide, afterwards it stops and if I click to activate it, the music goes away; here’s how I proceeded: I first created my PPS, then “transitions” I didn’t use transitions but I timed all my slides... then “sound and music” where I chose “music file” and checked automatically for the start of the music... then “settings” to indicate the number of slides involved and I put “all”... then “timing check” to synchronize my slides with my music and that’s where it goes wrong; the music started from the timing to the end but when I ran my PPS, the music and was recorded in full but could only be heard on the first slide and if I activate my PPS, the music stops; I think the error is at the timing level or just after but where and what is it? I was surprised that the music is attached to the PPS so early right at the verification; I indeed thought it was only a verification and that only later, by another maneuver, the music would be recorded!! that’s where I am and I don’t know what to do anymore; you mentioned a “Wav file” what is that? You would do me a huge favor by helping me solve my problem and I thank you very much in advance. I wish you a good evening and a good weekend.

I don’t have much time because I have to leave.
I can tell you anyway: to add music, you need to go to "slideshow" and then to "transition". There you can set the time you want to view each photo, and on the right there is a box labeled: sound. you scroll down to "other sound" and you will search for your music file. You click "apply" and normally it should work.
If you want, you can search the forum to convert your music file (if it’s MP3) to a WAV file.
Tomorrow evening I’ll have more time to explain.

first of all, thank you for replying so quickly to my letter. I should mention, for all intents and purposes, that I have Windows XP and PowerPoint 2003. So, I just ran new tests but nothing works, I have the transitions but still no music on my entire PPS, or simply on the first slide; I followed your advice but I did not see in "transition" on the right "other sound" or "apply"; no matter how hard I try, I can't; I would really like to succeed in making this PPS! Furthermore, I noticed in various letters that some, after successfully making their PPS, realized that it was too heavy; mine already weighs more than 6 MB without music, even after reluctantly removing a few slides; I very much doubt I can send it when it's finished; it's really not that simple!!! I will follow your advice and see if I can convert my music file to a WAV file, if it is MP3, which I don’t know because I know absolutely nothing about it, I chose my music from a disk that I had saved on my computer; as you can see, I am useless, so all your advice will be really useful to me and I thank you in advance; take your time, I am not in a hurry; again, a big thank you and good luck. -

First of all, I also have Windows XP but I have the 2000 version of PowerPoint. So there may be modifications that I don’t know.
I also struggled to make my slideshow: it’s the first one I’m making and like you I’ve done some tinkering!! But I managed to do it!
So, it’s a bit presumptuous of me to want to give you advice!! Since I approached it in several steps, I need to reconstruct the chronology of actions to take. I just tried to redo a little again but it doesn’t go the way I want! I’ll try to look at that tomorrow because I’m a bit tired tonight (it's 1:20 AM).
However, you can already see what extension your music file has (MP3 or other) to know if you need to convert it to a WAV file so that people you send your slideshow to can hear the music.

Good evening Manise, imagine that yesterday, while I was making yet another attempt, I noticed at the very top of my page, on the right, a panel I hadn't noticed, telling me to type a question, which I did; I asked "how to put music on all slides of a PPS"; a page listing all the steps appeared to me; I tried again and it worked; I have just sent my PPS to my children so they can confirm that the music is still present, I will let you know the answer as soon as I receive it; I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for your kindness; the fact that you answered me and knowing that you would help me kept me persevering; in fact, the instructions received are, with a few variations, those you gave me in your letter; you, you have to check "apply" while I have to specify the number of slides; this is probably due to you using PowerPoint 2000 and me 2003, if I recall correctly what you wrote to me; thank you again and I wish you a very, very good evening.
