How to connect a Technics turntable

Hello,
I just picked up an old Technics SL-D3 turntable that must date back to the 80s. I would like to use it by connecting it to a suitable amplifier. I just changed the stylus to ensure good sound quality.
Currently, I have a JVC mini hifi system that only has an AUX input. Obviously, the sound quality is mediocre (very low and very poor quality sound). I would like to know what type of amplifier and setup I should be looking for. Is it possible to use an adapted mini system (I assume it needs a PHONO input)? Am I forced to opt for a separate component system to find a suitable amplifier? If that's the case, do you have any amplifier recommendations that would work?
Thank you very much for your help.
Thomas.

Hi. If you have an AUX input on your chain, you can connect your turntable, but you need to put a preamp between the two; if you have a mixing table (even a mini one), it can do the job. The main thing is you need to amplify the sound that comes out of the diamond because it's too weak for the amp and it saturates. See you later!
